View Full Version : Going Slow

Just needed to apologise to anybody who saw me going up and down the M4 yesterday at about 60mph. Reason - I had forgotten my wallet (duh) and only had just under half a tank of gas to go 200 miles. So, some form of economy motoring was in order. Which brings me to a question - what is the most economic speed to drive a NSX 5 speed?

ps I made it back on fumes
pps I couldn't go back to fetch the wallet in case you were wondering

I'm guess ing 55mph is the most economical, although I think that's for cars in general. I have found that driving at 60mph can get long distances. On a full tank I can get from my house in Edinburgh to my base in Bedfordshire (just) which is about 350 miles, and I never can resist giving it a bit off wellie now and again, so I would say that driving economicaly I could get around 400 miles per tank in mine.

Jim, is that with air con off, windows up, ariel down, cruise control & if daylight, pop up lights down too! ;) Must be very hard to keep your speed down with the X, but motorway cruising is great sometimes as you get admirers!

Well I have no air con in mine but had the lights up ( always up these days as I can't be bothered winding them up and down manually all the time.........really must get them fixed)

I do find it hard keeping the car that slow, and my right foot does get the better off me on some stretches.

I've had my car for just about two weeks now and I've filled her up twice at the cost of about £50 using super unleaded but I'm only getting 200 miles per tank gulp! gulp! gulp!

That is an understatement. I've had a lotus Elise and Boxster S but they don't come close. I still can't believe I own one. I have said for years and years (I'm only 25) that the NSX is on of the best cars ever made. Even if I was a hemophiliac I would exchange my blood for fuel!

Craig,

Just got £66 of VMAX in mine. That was 63 litres so could have run her for another 7!!

Got 300 miles, but that included 100 of motorway cruising. Norm for everyday use is 250 for £60, don't really ever get less than that.

I managed 4.5mpg at Bruntingthorpe for VMAX :)

Then again, 0-156 mph all day is never going to help the greenhouse effect :D

Maybe you would be driving Miss Daisy if you actually drove your car!? Maybe you just sit in it in your garage and pretent to drive Miss Daisy? Mind you Miss daisy was never too busy asking countless number of questions on topics already answered to actually drive your car!

OK rant over.. I understand really, if I had a silver X I would probably only drive it about 1000 miles a year... only at night at least:laugh:

The taller you are, the harder you fall Luke! Watch it lanky I'm faster than the human eye, but I'm a mild mannered janitor! :D:laugh:
