They certainly seem to be coming out of the woodwork at the moment.

Think I have added 6 new ones to the database this month.

How much were Targas new? They seem to lose the premium in the second hand market.

Same price as the Coupe IIRC, the but it now price is possibly a little high even for a Targa with current selling prices. There have been a few facelifts sold for less than that. I guess it all depends on condition and history though.

110% HPI, WTF is either 100% clean or not, you can't have more than 100% in that situation. I would expect the seller to be sporting a mullet too.

For the earliest 02+ face lift with 36K miles, I think the price at £38.5K is a little highish realistically. Price new of Manual Targa was £63K. Also claims LBB the rarest colour? Thought it was 1st or 2nd most popular, with red 1st with 02+? I still love LBB coloured X tho!

For the earliest 02+ face lift with 36K miles, I think the price at £38K is a little highish realistically. Price new of Manual Targa was £63K. Also claims LBB the rarest colour? Thought it was 1st or 2nd most popular, with red 1st with 02+? I still love LBB coloured X tho!

I think from memory, from one of Simon P's previous posts, circa 50% of the 02+ were LBB, so the most popular colour.....

They mention that it is a private sale, so I would guess fair value is around 33-34k for an 02 with 36k miles (assuming targa is same value as Coupe)

Maybe for the time being with the 02+ being the last incarnation of the X, Targas are priced slightly above or same as coupes, but without causing a debate/rift with Targa owners! Wander if Targas in 3-5 years time, may lag slightly behind the coupes, being lighter by 50kgs & bit tighter on the road (ie people who like great handling & stiffer cars)? My 2p!

No disrespect to anyone, but most people who comment on Targas have never driven them and aren't really in a position to express an opinion.

Secondly, my targa sold more easily and for more than other 96' cars whether coupe or targa on the market during the last 12 months.

It all comes down to condition, price, colour and most importantly whether it's a manual or an auto.
Which brings me onto the subject of 'autobashing' on this site. I know some people have an issue with autos, again people who don't own them! but it's only respectful not to slag them off.

Finally, if my current car had been a targa, I would still have bought it. Recently there have been quite a few prospective buyers either looking for a targa specifically or not having a preference either way, which tells me that most people get over the minor differences despite the tired coupe vs targa debate.

Cheers,

James.

If I was in the market for a new one then this would definitely be right up there - targa vs manual... sometimes I really wish I could just take the roof off!

Looks like a great example for someone - who's gunna put a bid in of 30!?
