It has two tyre products that would fit OEMs wheels (abeit on 225/45 R17s on FWD VW Golf GTI-197 bhp). The new Goodyear Eagles F1 Asymmetric and Bridgestones Potenza RE050-A. Test catergorises into wet handling, aqua-planing, braking and dry handling, but sub divided with lap times, Lateral G and driver's subjective ratings (aqua plane has straight line & cornering). Result is Goodyear 1st and Bridgestone 4th, but interesting its tested on a FWD, 197 bhp car and 225 width. Need to check if they do 245 or 255 for the rear and or possibly 215 front. Since its a new tyre may still only make GSDs3 until it spreads throughtout the size ranges. :)

The Goodyears will only be available in sizes 17" plus :(
I spoke to Goodyear earlier today and they said the F1 will be phased out in favour of the asymmetric. No 215/45/16s available in the asymmetrics and can't even find F1s in the 225/40/16 alternative. A 225/50/16 available in the new asymmetric, but I think that's too much of a variance in the circumference.
I've had an absolute mare trying to get a matching set of tyres for 16" front and 17" rear rims. In the end I'm going with the Bridgestone 040s because although they are not supposed to be the best, at least I won't have a problem buying the 050s for the back when needed and I've not heard of any plans to replace either tyre in the near future (please let me live in ignorance if there are any plans). I'd like to hear what the technical people at Honda recommend we fit now that the OEMs are all but extinct.

the natural progression from RE010s are RE040s..
abd 50s as a compromise on the rear. but both very similar anyway.
great stiff sidewalls.

Indeed, very similar characteristics to the RE010 :)

Goodyear only make the new assymetrics for the rear 245x40x17! You would have to mix with something else on fronts, likewise with the GSDs3 at 245x40x17 or 255x17x40. If you wanted same manufactuer front & rear, then Bridgestones are only option (RE040 & RE050). However the test states the RE050 was mainly second just behind the Goodyears in any dry condition, but further behind in wet conditions. I will be sticking to Bridgestones anyroad! Si, since you own a S2k, is'nt RE050 an oem tyre?

Yes they are on the 2004+ cars, Bridgestone have also officially announced that the RE050A is the recommended alternative to the now phased out ES02JZ for the pre 2004 cars.

Just read the Evo tyre test properly, very surprised that Vredstein was 2nd and Continental contisport contact 3 was third. I'm not sure that the Vs are good enough for the X? maybe the Cs are as they are liked or oems on Porkers! Just thinking aloud as tyre options seems to be only limited Goodyears and Bridgestones!

thing is the tests are just on one tyre.
The YOKOs came last.. ive had loads of yokos and never had better.
A046s are awsome as are AD07s..

I know Yokos are awesome tyre in the dry, even though they have increased the wear rate, they generally wear quickest as softer rubber! I suppose it may have come bottom since it test all conditions and not fortgeting the size thats tested are 225s, FWD and 197bhp (nearly 100 bhp down on 3.2). If you go out in the dry then there great, just watch your right foot when in the rain or keep below VTEC band other than straight bits! :)

James, EVO used the VW Golf GTI 30th anniversary edition to do the tests, and this car has 227bhp.
