Just looked at signature... Sold the Skyline before Christmas. RX-7 next to go.. anyone looking for a project car ?
Imported it in 2003... never registered it... but it will do so fine.
did drive with dealer plates for a while? 43,000 miles. 1992.. SS exhaust, short-shift, Apexi air filter..
start it regularly and drive it around my friends farm.
interior needs some TLC. owes me about £3000... fixed up worth around £4 - £5K...
Would take around £2200 just to see the tail end of it going down the street ??.. or might just send it to a tuner and see what comes back...
But... Really getting used to the idea of buying an older NSX in a year or so and Mod'ing / sticking a turbo on it.... so here's a beautiful picture of 'er

I have had a couple of the RX7's, one of which had the Elford turbo. Great fun. Any chance of a picture I can see?

Well Kare, you could argue the MR2 isn't going to last that long.
RX7 makes a great track car. Lightweight. Seen one at Bedford, and let's say he was hard to keep up with.

Agreed DTM, those curves! One of the great shaped Japanese cars, apart from our beloved NSX! As its a Wankel or Rotary engine and turboed? How much tuning can you do on it for reasonable money, for say a 1K and what kind of BHP gains?! Think when standard, it was around 230bhp ish?

It's the twin turbo (staged)
I know... a good engine rebuild for big power is around £2500 - £3000..
so have thought about it for a relatively cheap high power fun car.

Hi Paul,
Do you see any issue with the fact the engine hasn't seen enough regular use? ...so have been thinking about sending to a tuner and paying the piper for rebuild to a higher spec.
Just never had the time to sort it out. At a friends farm 5 minutes down the road... out of sight, out of mind...
still interested?

What's the mileage?
I suspect parts are more expensive than an MR2 if it starts to go wrong! ;)

after spending about 4 hours around it today... more time than the last 3 years combined... thinking it would be real cool car as a run around this summer...
+ there is something wrong with the prop-shaft connection... when i put the power down, there is a vibration that is pretty bad and of need of attention.
Even with this unknown problem... Thinking £2,200 is just too little for such a beautiful car... Thought after today: I'm going to send it to a RX7 specialist and have him sort out the niggling bits.
even if I get into this thing for around £6 - £7K (modified engine)... a heck of a lot smarter than getting into a NSX project car at £20 - £30K ???
*someone talk me out of it... an offer darn near £3K -as is- would take it regardless of my new fantasy of a 400 bhp rx7 for the summer...

Interior needs some love. Broken door card when I got it... bought 2 from a breaker... but haven't put them in.
82,000 kilometres on the clock.

If I didn't have my MR2........... I would definitely have been tempted.
Group buy as a 'cheap' track car once the 'prop-shaft' problem has been sorted? ;) ??
I do note that they go for £>3k on pistonheads....!!

Took it to RO Techniks in Reading. Perished hoses, wiper blades, fluid caps, some belts, mis-aligned power-plant sub-frame... but other than that in good shape. Good compression :)
Get it back on Thursday £500 later... so am going to play around with it for a few months, might go for some stage 4 tuning :) .... some driftin & track.
Good way to keep my NSX safe in the garage !
Though I do get it out every other weekend or so... drove it into the office today ... looking forward to next summer.

Keeping the RX7 is a sensible idea for having fun and using the NSX when the weather is warmer is wise! Its no surprise your'e keeping the Mazda and retaining your car lot! :D

Always liked the RX7s but put off my the running cost. Think they look awesome de-spoilered and low on wide wheels!
From what i've seen on the BMI DVDs the various versions of RX7 and NSX seem pretty equal on track.

I took it to RoTechnics for a full going over. All new hoses, belts, filters etc. £750
I took it to Hayward Rotary for a track day preperation. £1200
...some of work carried out.
* replace rear main seal, full exhaust( 2002 OEM backbox ), Black Diamond ( grooved, drilled ) front discs + hawk pads, 1 rear shock.
Compression test carried out. 1s rotor 61,59,58 2nd rotor 60,58,56
Put two new tires on back for MOT pass.
Took to track day and was fun. Drive as everyday runaround now.
Selling to buy a track prepared RX7 ( rather than spend another £8K myself )
Looking for around £3000 as the body has a few nicks and scrapes. their are other little things to do. figure that's a fair figure... anyone interested before I stick on fleabay?
like the RX7 and love driving it.. but going to make a move on this one. ( if it's still around in a week or so )
