I soon need to get some new rubber (all 4 wheels need to be re shod )
Fronts I can get, but rears are on 10 week back order!! Even Norton way cant get them.
Anyone know where I can get a couple of 255/40R17 94Y Potenza 's? I think its now only available in the RE050A.
Cheers

Nick,
Have you tried Robert at Redstar in Braintree?
01376 347452
He also offers remote install and will travel so might be handy for Chelmsford?

Thanks, I've just had a chat with him, and he's going to have a ring around for me tomorrow. Have you used them before?
Thanks for the contact anyway.:)

Robert was the guy I used to refurb my alloys and supply the F1's I have on my NSX. He also runs a 93 Red/Black like yours. Really helpful in my opinion, with good service and competitvely priced.

How do you find the F1'? as I may have to move away from Bridgestone.

I've now covered over 8k miles on this set. With even tread depth I'd say these are good for close on 20k of mainly spirited driving, but no track use.
Dry weather grip is improving as the tyres age. This is an inbuilt result of the tread design which presents more rubber to the road as the trailing ends of the grooves wear down.
This has slightly reduced the wet weather grip but IMO it is still ahead of the Yoko's or Bridgestones I had originally.
The tyre is also a low noise design and for me, the tyre stiffness suits the NSX set up for our less than smooth roads.

I've just worn out my rear F1s in 4K miles :(:(
Don't think I drive too much like a nutter. Mind you, just had anti-roll bar drop link replaced after a few months deferment - might have affected tyre wear. Main problem is I've lost locking wheelnut key, or I think Chatham's have  but they've offered to sort it out for free at least.

On my second complete set - they have lasted me embarrassingly well - and they are so reassuring if you get stuck out in the wet!

Matt, was it not an embarresting 23K or 28K!?
If Paul thinks he may reach 20K, then I assume thats the norm with average NSX driving without tracking.
Graham, think your suspension may have caused premature wear? Are yours 245s, think Paul are 255s, not sure about Matts or Miss Daisy's :D
I need new boots soon, but will leave them until Spring as hardly will be using her over the Winter! Still can't decide whether it be GY or BS?

Think I start looking, get new boots sooner and then buy an extra set for the future? or just buy a set now and save them for later!

Oo good news, my dealer of choice (STS) have found two front so3 for me, having them fitted on Sunday, and another tyre co have found some 050A's for next week:)
Just as well as I felt like I was skating up the M11 today:eek:
This tyre thing is really getting silly, I might start looking for my next set !
Thanks all for the info / advice

Good find, lucky you've a STS near you, the North West branch at Warrington shut last year and theres none in the NW now! I got my oems BS RE010 2 yrs ago from there! :( Are the SO3 215 45 16s?
Are BS RE050A for the rears correct? as I'm sure theres a difference bewteen REO50A and REO50, I thought its without the A? Can anyone confirm.

STS at Biggleswade have always been very helpful from my S2000 days, and apart from being quite resourceful, offer a decent discount.
The front so3's are 225/45 16 which I've had for the last 4 sets. The rears are currently 050A and Ive been very happy with them, and reluctant to change. I've had bad experience with sets of Dunlop's and Toyos, which made the car very unstable and unpredictable. So I need to stick with what works!

I too have been looking for rear tyres although not too urgently. Came across these guys http://www.tyretraders.com/SearchType/Default.aspx?Width=255&Ratio=40&Rim=17
I spoke to someone there re. availability, and told if the tyres are listed then they are in stock. It might be worth a try.

The 050's failed to materialise. They were shown in stock, but not on the shelf:angry:
Well after a lot of web trawling, phone calls etc, managed to source a pair of 040's, and had them fitted today. Only traveled 100 or so miles but feel good.
I'm off to look for my next set now!
