then searched a little more and found these pics... Looks like same car changing hands... not sure which sale happened first.

I have personal experience of the debacle, and written about it on my site. Basically the car in your links is not a GT2 car, it's a butchered ADAC Cup car with some Le Mans parts being passed off as the class winning GT2 car.

Read more on my site!

I'm not sure how many GT2 cars exist. There were two GT1 cars to the best of my knowledge. I spoke to the designer of the cars and one was ripped to pieces, the other 'may' be in the UK somewhere.

Interesting stuff. One point, as you are linking your site on here, it might be a nice gesture to link this site on yours! Good luck with the project chaps - looks mighty impressive. :)

What I have heard the ex-Altschach NSX was bought from Rowan Atkinson. He got the best bid at Christis.

I was on the phone with Altschach 3 days ago and I read a German article from 2003 that he has bought an NSX - a very old car he said. :/

Does anyone know if this car ever sold ??

I made several enquiries about it, Euro 39000 for a 2003 NSX-R seems like a bargain to me.

I have heard the car has not much to do with an "R" anymore......it was one of the first prototypes Honda made and many parts are from oem NA2 NSXes.The car is still for sale at Fugel.

Yes, still for sale here: http://www.webmobil24.com/web/de/haendler_homepages/honda-fugel-gruppe/liste.htm?EVENT=DETAIL&showid=46510247&MARKE_ID=1020&ANZEIGE_MODELL=nsx&ANZEIGE_EZJAHR_VON=0&ANZEIGE_EZJAHR_BIS=0&ATTRIBUT_ID_FZART=0&FZKATEGORIE_ID=0&ANZEIGE_KMSTAND_VON=0&ANZEIGE_KMSTAND_BIS=0&ATTRIBUT_ID_KRAFTSTOFF=0&ATTRG_GETRIEBE=0&ANZEIGE_LEISTUNG_VON=0&ANZEIGE_LEISTUNG_BIS=0&FARBE_ID=0&ANZEIGE_PREIS_VON=0&ANZEIGE_PREIS_BIS=0&ATTRIBUT_ID_KLIMA=0&ANZEIGE_SORTIERUNG=1&ATTRIBUT_ID_ABGAS=0&ANZEIGE_INTCODE=&redirect=1&customdesign=1&notablesatall=&STANDORT=0&TUEREN=0&FZART_ID=P&lastshow=0&anzahlTreffer=1

the info on the site translates something like this....

Recaro seat, strenghtened cell, Bilstein adjustable chassis, detachable steering wheel, built after 24-hour Rules (SP6), aluminum 18-inch BBS wheels, brakes front and rear MOVIT, cars pass, gear lock reinforced series(?), no road registration

Says its delivering 315hp so may have an R engine...

This car was a few month ago in TIROL ( a part from Austria) on a local OAMTC test area in Innsbruck. A friend from my girl friend sent the info with pic on her cell phone :)

Do we still think the R engine is really worth more than a couple of extra HP then??? ;)

Someone needs prove/disprove it down at TDI :)

Well there's only one man that we know of that can do that for us.

I did invite to the previous event but that was around the untimely 'borrowing' of said car. Hopefully all that is now resolved and we may be able to persuade him to join us.

Like you (and many others I'm sure), I'd really like to know if the extra ponies exist or is the extra performance all to do with weight, chassis, aero, tyres and gearing.

We wait patiently to find the answer ...... :)

regards, Paul

has the extra performance been proven?

The R seemed pretty average here - does anyone have the copy of Autocar?

Honda NSX Type-R:
0-30mph: 1.94mph
0-60mph: 4.91secs
0-100mph: 11.41secs
Reaction time: 0.38secs
100-0mph: 4.41secs
Overall: 16.20secs

The 0-60 looks impressive to me, gearing though probably plays a large part in that.

Not when the allegedly standard 2002 NSX did it in 4.8 and 10.9

Simon, are those figs from Autocar special edition where the NA2 Type R was compared with 996 GT3 & M3 CSL?

Found a post by Armin Hahne. He says the Altschach NSX was one of the Thompson built NSX. When someone knows, than him.
