Mad idea - recording prices achieved

This may be completely mad/ unpopular but I was thinking today: we've had trouble establishing sensible prices for our cars because there are so few transactions that the price guides make no sense.

Would there be any value in having a sticky thread somewhere where sellers or buyers can list what they actually sold/ bought their cars for? And maybe how long they took in selling (especially) or buying.

I'm guessing that once the transaction is done people might be prepared to "come clean" about what the values were.

Over time we might be able to build a better picture of likely pricing vs time to sell or buy

I was actually thinking today as to how different the prices are and my feeling is that it is completely dependant on any one car at the time subject to condition,mileage what it has had done e.t.c

I don't think there is ever going to be an easy answer to your question Simon?
