Has anyone used a solar battery charger and are they any good?

Some of them say they work by plugging into the cigarette lighter but they don't explain how this works. Does this need a cigarette lighter that is permanently live. In the NSX (and many other cars) it only works when the ignition is on so I can't see how a charger would work using this method.
Any ideas ?

I suspect it will only work parked outside the garage! ;)

Even Halfords don't recommend them, they must be bad.

Thanks, I already have a trickle charger but I wanted to use it for my Soarer which is outside in the drive. That was why I wondered if the Solar jobby might be an option

I still don't get how it would work through the cigarette lighter with ignition off :(

In BMWs, the ciggie lighter socket is still active/live with the ignition off and the key out as it still continues to charge my phone! Maybe they work on certain cars only?!:dunno:

Never had one, but think the UK has 154 days average rainfall a year, so would be a waste with our dull & unpredictable climate!

will not work if the ignition is off and the cig lighter is not live
so u get the battery clamps to use instead
