MG ex-e

I was in Borders today and read an article in a book about the NSX. It said a lot of stuff I knew already about the technology etc. However the book crticized the styling and said it was too much like the MG ex-e concept car of the 80's (below) as you can see it does look similar but the NSX is no doubt better looking. I know that Rover was a design partner of Honda with the Rover 214/Honda Concerto, Honda legend/Rover 800 and Rover 600/Honda accord. Does anyone know any connection between this concept or did Rover influence the NSX?

None at all.

It was basically to be powered by the Metro 6R4 driveline. Or vice versa in fact.

So it would have been related to the XJ220!

The MG had an alloy chasis, plastic panels and a mid mounted V6. Honda would always use their own engine.

I was at the Gaydon museum just before Christmas and had a good look round the EX-E ... I could see why people drew comparisons, but it seems purely coincidental.

You could say the prior art at the time was the HP-X concept (http://www.diseno-art.com/encyclopedia/classic_concept_cars/honda_hp-x.html), or any number of other long, mid-engined designs.
