Lurker! MPG

Hi All,
I've been a lurker for quite a while on this forum and i'm sure this subject has been covered many times, but please just humour me a little while.

Driving in the real world with a 3.0 NSX, What would you expect your MPG to be (obviously, after you settled in to a normal routine after the first couple of weeks ownership).

Id say excellent.

On a motorway cruise with cruise on atb 75mph or so its really good. Id even go as far to say as good as my DC5 before it...

I always judge it on my trip to the ring, 330 miles it is. Home to HUll...hull to the ring.

DC5 was exactly a full tank with the light on...Id always get sacred and put a bit inh but it would do it.

NSX is a bigger tank but when i arrived i had just under a quarter left so not much in it

Sorry got a 3.2, but say get on average 28 mpg if careful or 30 if constant A road/motorways?, but seriously I get about 16 since that sound is addictive :D I think a 3.0 is similar as being slightly lighter car with slightly smaller engine, but the 3.2 has a 6 speed box as oppose to a 5? Anyone chip in? HTH :)

This may be of some use to you, I have a 1991 3.0 manual, and I am based in Bedfordshire. If I fill up there I can drive home to Edinbugh on 3/4 of a tank, that is motorway to Newcastle then A roads the rest of the way, stilling at anywhere 60 -80 ish.

However, if it's a nice day and i feel a little lead footed it takes the whole tank to get home.

So I would say on average 400 miles to a full tank ( someone else can do the maths)

My car is a 3.2 so make allowances.

For the 1st 6 months of my ownership I commuted the car 25 miles each way home - Croydon. This is a mixture of 'b' roads, fast (especially at 7am in the morning!) 'A' roads, plus a 2 mile urban crawl at the Croydon end.

I managed a fairly consistent 27mpg on this journey.

In a 3.2 I can consistantly achieve low to mid 30's mpg :)

On a track day around 4.5 mpg.

Hang on ive just had a thought.. lap of the ring is 12.9 miles...

So 3.5MPG... X 25 laps means i used 92 Gallons roughly last year of fuel.

Call it £4 a gallon and thats £368... on fuel

Glad im in ickle 1.8 this year :)


And in sections ill be cruising in 5th to save even more...:)!

Anyway, I can only get 300 to 320 miles before I wimp out. By that tme the needle is deep onto empty. As for mpg my normal 75 mile route to work is a real mixture of motorway, A, B , and country lanes. i consistently get 28 to 30 mpg. Obviously a heavy right food dictates a plunge to the high teens:no:
