Paint Help Reqd

I have a few stone chips need touchin up, & the nose cone due to a previous owners attempts to rectify this, is a shade out, I imagine the yellow could be a bit of a problem to match, due to the pearlessence, could this possibly deteriorate with time?
Just wonderin if anyone has any experience of anywhere, and can recomend a decent place in Yorkshire (or not too far away) to get this sorted.

Hi Dave,

Can't offer much help, especially in your neck of the woods, other than to say I think it is more likely to be the yellow that is the difficulty, rather than the pearlessence.

Circuit Blue is pearlecent and I have a perfect match on my resprayed bonnet (thank you Honda UK) with the nose cone/wings.

Yellow, on the other hand is a notoriously unstable colour - especially since they stopped putting lead into it.

Thanks gents, Pande's the one I was trying to think of, just couldn't remember the name, I'm sure he was from the Leeds area, and seemed to get some good reports.

If you do decide to go down the complete respray road, where will you be getting it done? I am quite interested to find out how much that would cost as I have far too many chips/sratches to touch up and will need a complete resrpay too.

I'm making a few enquiries now, but won't be able to make a final decision until I return home, as I'd like to see some examples of peoples work before committing, but will keep you informed.

IIRC in EVO the guy who had the Porsche CGT had it resprayed and it cost him £7k, then in the following months issue they received several letters saying he was ripped off and that they could have done it for £4k.

Is it also worth a PM to Dan the Man as he had work done on his yellow NSX only last year.

Sadly I have lost Pande's detail with my old phone gone. Reg might still have some info as he had his car. I can honestly say that I only knew his car was repainted because he told me. The work on his car was second to none.

With regard to getting paint right, it can be tricky but my experience is that with patience and skill you can get a close match for pretty much anything.
The factor that will make the front of the car more expensive to paint is the removal of the bumper. Most paintshops will charge 3-4 hours to take it off and replace it.
When they painted my last NSX they blew in the front wings and the bonnet to match the slight variance in colour. This is normal practice so no problems there.
They also touched up any other chips the car had and machine polished the rest of the car which brings it up really well.

I have Pandes number if u want it.

And im in east lancs, burnley.

My cars same colour as yours and i got it done at my local place. always first class job and match was spot on. Probbaly be easier on yours as he did mine and had to find the right formular a few times as honda changed the yellow.

My DC5 was Red and that again was excellent. Like factory.

Thanks for the help guys, I now have now recieved a few options, just need to get back to the UK to get it sorted, unfortunately not before Japfest, so no laughing at my nose cone, and stone chips!!!

Dan I would appreciate the number and any info you have on the place you took yours to, with a bit of luck I should be able to see the work they carried out, if your old cars at the Fest.

Paul, read the same EVO article too, every single panel was removed and painted seperately, the paint shop specialises in exoticas, but agree 4K looks about right rather than 7K !! Unless they charge an extra premium for a special paint unique to CGT!?
