Well there seems to be some strange priced cars popping out of the woodwork again.
Silver 1999 3.2 Manual for £21995
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140232212611
Also AR's old Imola Orange 1999 3.2 Manual only managed to reach £14850 (probably not worth much more IMHO)

Challenging times I would say, discuss.................

Couldn't see a mileage on that Silver one so difficult to guage a value.
If I am not mistaken that is Pande/Reg's old car.

AR

I sent an email asked mileage. reply: 80K.
Discussion:
in my humble (only been on here 8 months) opinion
Well, the last time it seemed to me that prices were holding was when I bought mine in Sept.
Even then I got a full 10% off asking price. ( Sales manager seemed happy to see the backside of it, as it'd been there too long ) Realistically I think I could get close to 10% off that if I tried to sell now. My house / marriage? would have to be in jeorpardy for that to ever happen!
RE: so many on the market & reality of life/cars
Since last september I've only heard of one real success story and possibly a second. ( sure there are loads more ) But what we do see are all the cars that are continually popping up again and again??
Is this because our views of what represents a good deal on the market differs from what punters are willing to pay? This is a great testament to the integrity of the group; as it maintains the marque and a pricing standard.
But, if priced differently, would these would fly off the shelf? Think so.
They are awesome machines after all.
Working against us, is a country infatuated with registrations and with 'relative' super-cars / or brands marketing them as, popping up everywhere; enthusiasts aren't going to multiply.
marketing a 10+ year old car @ £15K-£20K+ that doesn't have the Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo type margue is always going to be a challenge? Think of Masers... can't include them..
I think the only reason we can is reliability and few stunning qualities?
When I bought my car, I went into knowing that if I ever decided to sell it... I could be looking at a 3-6 month process to find a enthusiast who knew what he/she was getting.?

There is/was a silver 1999 for sale on Piston Heads a while back with 80k plus miles, not sure if it's the same one.
Is like my K reg one. It has 101K and those who seen it know that she looks the part ang goes the part. Were I to sell it for 18K I will loose 8K in one year. Am I prepare for that? No way, so I just started dumping more money in the bottomless NSX pit and will be happy with her!

there are always good and not so good times to sell cars. I knew when I tentively advertised my car there probably wouldn't be much interest because of the current economic climate, (and the fact that it's only advertised here, buried in the for sale section).
It's interesting how some cars sell immediately whilst others languish in the classified sometimes forever.
Makes me think among other factors, that this is about the presentation of the the advert and where it is advertised.
I know ebay is really popular, but expensive cars advertised there worry me. IMO it's the retirement home for CATD or tired autos.
Additionally, a lot of people who advertise their cars never take the time to structure their ad properly, the pictures are bland, hazy or out of focus and they miss out crucial information 'like mileage' for instance.
The buyer is trying to fall in love with the idea of ownership; how can he/she do this when the car advertised is parked in a tower block lock-up or outside a busy garage hemmed in by a landcruiser. IMO no imagination, less chance of quick sale.
Back to where you advertise, look at NSXCB classified! My car is currently situated between a mugen ECU and an induction kit! Perhaps we need a separate
'car for sale' section?
Cheers,
James.

Economic climate has to be the biggie right now.
With the NSX you're always looking for an enthusiast that always wanted one (i.e. one of us). They're out there, its just a question of being able to wait for them and then being able to make the right deal. Trouble now is I think everyone is battening down the hatches and waiting to see what happens.

Whether its selling cars, continental holidays or property, or anything else over a tenner, I think were are all in the same boat. DIY Sky TV channels tell everyone to act like a cross between a pawn broker and a forensic detective when buying anything. During the global recession unless you've got a one lady owner Veyron parked in Eastern Europe for sale on no status no deposit 100% finance with a free tank of petrol then I think from what everyones saying its going to be an uphill struggle selling prestige stuff for a few years longer. Hello by the way Iam a newbee here.

I hope it's not a few years, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. The thing that worries me the most is the cost and availability of fuel. If the scientists are right, we'll be on the downward curve of fuel reserves by 2013/14.
Perhaps in 10 years time we'll be towing our NSX's to meets on the back of electric trucks?
Mmm?
Cheers,
James.

That may just be true, but I very seriously doubt it.
There are enormous volumes of oil remaining (Saudi Arabia, Russia, Canadian Oil sands etc. etc. etc.)
The upside to high oil prices is that many of these deposits become ecconomically viable & are exploited.
By way of an example, to produce a barrel of oil in Saudi typically costs ~$2, in the UK North Sea ~$8, whereas to remove produce usable oil form the Albera oil sands (heavy oil heald in near surface deposits, produced by strip quarrying / oil separated from sand via a combination of solvents and high pressure steam) cost ~$60 per barrel.
All that will happen for some long time (certainly long enough for us & our NSX's to have shuffled off our collective coils) is that as oil prices goup, more and more of the stuff will become commercially viable.
So James, good news eh? One less thing to worry about! :)

As we are talking about the price of oil, I was speaking to a city type at the weekend who said that the real value of oil at the moment is only 100 dollars a barrel, the extra 35 dollars is all down to the futures market, either wise known as speculators.

Yup, that is probably about right.

Straying back 'on topic'.
If this car is the ex-Pande / Reg car, any prospective owners would be well advised to contact 'reg' (Crieghton) before going any further.

I think the consensus is that it's pande/reg's old car and that it has issues?!

Yes, I think that begins to cover it James!
So what has happened to it since I test drove it two years ago?
It seemed OK then, except for the mesh in the engine cover.

Yes it is my old car.
The used car market is taking a dip, especially NSX type cars which are heavy-ish on fuel. Caterhams are doing the same with toys being sold to shore up finances in the latest round of lining the Govts pockets.
Anyway, I still think that a pre tax hike 3.2 is a good bet, these things even out in the long term and IMO NSX's are good value. I would love another to sit alongside POB someday, we will have to see how it all pans out.

With my new x-ray powers I have had a quick squiz at what you posted - and I think it was a good idea to delete:eek:! I think if anyone wants the low-down on the car they should PM Reg for the specifics on this car.
I'm of the firm belief that it doesn't reflect on the value of a good straight car in any way....:D
