I would look at buying a flywheel from the US :(

But if the car is in bits then they may not wait.

I have had this on a few cars before, ask them if they think it can be reskimmed.
I'll also look up the part number.

but looks NA1 only..

£2000 is just so much dosh for something I can't admire.

Hi Rob, "Blued"... I'd want a better explanation than that to spend £2K

IMHO there are only 2 reasons, possibly to replace it...

1) It's warped
2) The rubber connection between the centre and face parts ie the "dual masses" is broken or close to breaking
3) The face is very badly scrathed/scarred. Minor scratches are not a problem.

"Blued" usually means it's got very hot at some point and can mean that when it get hot a again it will warp. Brakes discs can suffer from this phenomenon. What is the friction plate like? Completely down to the rivets? It would have to be to ruin the flywheel surface?

If you do decide to change it, please ask to keep the old one... and give me first refusal on it ;)

Cheers

Mark

1st refusal is yours. But based on what he was saying, it's a bit nacker'd.

If I'm going to spend US $4000... i pretty much want an F1 grade - upgrade!

errr.. maybe you have to add anought naught on the end for that one?

22300-PR7-025 Pressure Plate
22810-PR8-003 Clutch Release Bearing
91006-PR7-008 Clutch Bearing (Flywheel Side)

Should I just go with the OEM part... or better to look at this lightweight ( Jun ) option?

simonprelude

As far as I know the JUN option is only available when used in conjunction with an NA1 clutch. I doubt Honda will fit you an NA1 clutch instead :(

Well I guess I should just add in the fact that I'm getting a free Clutch & assembly out of the deal... and just having to pay the extortionate amount on the flywheel and just be done with it.

Man... a £3,200 bill isn't really what I needed

Mail these guys and ask how much for an NA2 flyheel ??

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/acuralynn

Should be $2000 at most, saving you a fair chunk against £2000 !!

Even with express shipping to UK should still be a good saving.

Option: have you tried Barry at Vtec direct? He was recently offereing good club deals on clutch and flys and I believe these were from stock ... worth a shot Rob

Out of interest, had you been expereincing a particular problem with the clutch before you sent the car in to Chiswick?

Little bit of slipping.

Only a couple times, but... On the way in to Chiswick that morning, I scuttled off at moto services and back out the other side to slip by some traffic.
gassing it in 3rd on the on-ramp, revs suddenly slipped from 3,500 up to 6,000 before gripping back in at 4,000..

Was glad I was on my way to drop it off.

They say that the slippage I experienced really messed up the flywheel.

I'm sure you could get the flywheel skimmed....an even cheaper option....

You've obviously thought of this but why is the fly not waranteed?

If the waranteed clutch caused the fly to fail then it's Honda's fault for having a waranteed part failing ...

Probably not but worth a try!

If it was me and my flywheel / clutch had gone then I would take the opertunity to upgrade to either type r (if any differant) or to a high performance after market option.

Barry is getting me a qoute now on the NA2-R.

But Matt's comment "That needs an NA1 clutch as well though doesn't it ??"

worries me... does anyone know the answer.. Chiswick already have the clutch and other bits sitting there waiting.. can't imagine asking for a total change will fly!

Any ideas?
