Hi all,

It's me again, first of all I would like to say a big TQ for the replies and feedback given in my other thread pertaining to the auto conversion...its hard to get decent advice on a rare car like the NSX...and all feedback are most appreciated..

Now for the new topic, to push more power from the nsx i am contemplating 1 of 2 options...

1) Supercharging, a comptech SC etc, a simplistic process, bolt on, expensive

However, I woud have to order it from either the UK or US and somehow I'm the sort of person who feels a bit apprehensive on handing over 8000USD through paypal...to a complete stranger

2) Turbocharging, twin turbo system, customed designed, complicated piping work, cheaper

The plus point for this is I get it done at my specialist mechanic in my own country, and replacement parts/tuning mgmt for the turbo are abundant..i do intend to use the stock internals at the moment and boost to around 0.5 bar...

Pls guys do comment away.....if anyone is on stock internals who is able to state the max the engine & auto would take...that would most certainly provide me with important data during modification work...

As I said, no high powered auto in the UK? ;)

Cheers

Kevin

To be honest, and I think most here will agree, you at the wrong site to get the advice your are looking for. It's not that we don't want to help, but that nobody here has the experience to give you the advice you're after. One car here is supercharged but that's all.

Any advice will be from what people have read on NSXPrime, and then, opinions differ greatly as to what you can and can't do. I've heard that 400bhp on a stock engine will be reliable. However some say more is possible, some say even 400 with a bad tune will cause problems.

Getting a Comptech SC is not a simplistic task. Fitting one is. There are a couple of people here that have been waiting for what seems like a year to get one from Comptech. They can sell as many as they make, and they don't seem to be making that many. I waited 6 months for a suspension kit from them.

hi mate
dont have to hand 8k over
best is like i did take a mate with you and bring all you need back uk will not be cheap but usa is
im running 0.3 bar about 5psi on my bbsc and been told wont get much more unless i do a low comp.
that said i could add 50 shot of nos not a prob but make sure you get a good tunner or boom
i know ppl say nsx engine's are bomb proof but hay never say never.

turbo or supercharger
well both wont be much over 400 on standard block
i only went for the bbsc cos i never had a supercharged car before

any thing i can help you with i will as mr.kevin said best place to look is prime and they have a load done over there
i only know of 3 in uk
funkypower's hks turbo set up
some 1 has a comptec cant remember who?
and me bbsc

welcome to ring me if you want

Sounds to me you have already more or less decided for the Turbo and are hoping for endorsement on your choice:rolleyes:

Both systems have their pros and cons, which have been debated on many carforums.

On my '98 3.2L 6-speed I have chosen the CTSC for the ease of installation and because it doesn't require any engine mods or serious adaptations, the power (365 WBHP on my car which equals to about 410 Engine BHP) is more than enough IMHO.
Mind you, it will need a stronger clutch and also advisable are better flowing exhaust manifolds and exhaust to get max gain.

With Turbo you can easily get more, but it will require enginework.

Turbo installation will also require plugging into the oilsystem and (if watercooled) into the cooling system.

On a standard compression engine max boost would be about 7-8 psi (0.4-0.45bar) max.
You can get more boost, but the risk of the engine blowing up increases very rapidly with raising boost beyond this level.

are NSX internals forged as standard like s2k internals?

well part of the reason why im posting is to get more POV's than relying 100% on nsx prime which has certainly more modified NSX's than in the UK...

I'll be really honest with my expectations, with the auto box that I currently have, assuming no gearbox upgrades...300-320 bhp on wheel would be enough for me...

Was just hoping that someone in the UK had an automatic to compare notes andso forth..

well i personally feel that getting the turbo done on home ground would be much more expedient and saves the hassle and time of getting a SC kit from the USA or UK. But it never hurts to get a 2nd opinion.

I'm leaning towards the turbo not because that it can derive more power than SCharging. With my auto box as the limitation i certainly would not be able to push even 365bhp on wheel as the gearbox might go south...

I would appreciate if you/someone has heard or knows of someone running a modified nsx SC/turbo on a standard auto box.

making the power through either methodisn't a problem, my concern primarily would be on the max bhp on wheel the box will take..

like kevin said, the comptech sc takes like a gazillion years to come and waiting over a year is just simply way too long..

are there any other screw type SCharger systems besides comptech?

cheers mate.

It's the SC system made by Mark Basch in the US.Amo hasn't had any problems with his but there are a number of horror stories of engines going pop on prime.I'm sure you will find some interesting stories regarding this system if you do a search on prime.

Cheers,

Ivor.

Basically the BBSC system is fine but one must ditch the split second box and get an engine management system.

im runnin 400 at the fly
but want more lol
and hope to go get my bits end of year

525whp should give me about 600ish

what ever you go for get it mapped right

thx amo
