My aircon has stopped working (96 P targa - 103K miles). Is it a simple matter to get it recharged? Can I get it done by my local aircon man or should I take it to Honda (nearest dealer Ipswich) ?
Thanks for your help

If its just a matter of gas then its not a difficult job and mine was done by an AC center not a main dealer. If a gas recharge solves it all well and good, if not then you might need more specialist help. I was advised by Duncan to try the AC units self diagnostic test (Iam a specialist on fault codes over the last six months with mine!) and it will tell you if there is another problem:Climate Control section at:

If its simple gas recharge, then try Honda as did mine last year & it was only slightly dearer than a specialist non dealership. Decided to do it whilst getting car service. You may have to check which unit you have depending on the age of your car as it has a different gas. HTH

Gary at Avacs in Alton did the work on mine, really knows his stuff. Be very careful if you have the old gas - if you go for the cheap replacement it doesn't carry lubricant in the same way and eventually your compressor will seize :(

Thanks for your help, guys. Just had the aircon recharged by my local man - £45 cash. Cool again.
