Hi guys, i'm contemplating ripping out the OEM Bose system in my JDM NSX, as the speakers have never worked properly since I had it (crackling from left door speaker and centre speaker).

There are several options open to me i guess...

1. Locate speaker fault and renew existing system

2. Rip out speakers and replace them but keep the Bose Head unit

3. Rip it all out and go for a fancy audiophile system

The question is: Is there enough space in the centre console for a double din unit once the bose has been removed, without compromising the rest of the functions i.e. a/c controls etc?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Especially on the choice of head unit. Here's the kind of thing I've been looking at:

And if only a single din will fit then this...

I have been given a quote by a specialist audio fitter called AI Audio in Berkshire http://www.aiaudio.co.uk/audio.php has anyone used them or know of their credentials?

Parv,

Yes, double DIN will fit either flush to the console or as in this thread which IMO looks more of an OEM install.

Either way you will need to do some fabrication to the OEM console. It may be worth trying to find a secondhand console to work with then you can keep the OEM set-up should you ever need to retro fit in the future?

I removed all my original system and opted for a touch screen double din with some small lightweight speakers and 7" head unit that has DVD/CD/ and NAV option if I need it. It can also take memory cards and USB devises. Here's some pics.

Thanks Sudesh, looks really impressive.

I see you did away with the tray and cig lighter - what do you do for a power socket?

I done away with the tray and socket to give the console a cleaner line and also it aided in fitting a larger screen. I havent installed a socket yet, but I'm going to install one in the glove box and just use the existing wiring to power it. Its very simple to do.
