Hi all
Last Friday I took the NSX into Norton way Honda for its yearly service.
As usual the guys there did a good job, but I got a call mid-afternoon telling me that the front brake disks need replacing along with all brake pads and the windscreen wiper blades. Then they mentioned that they don't keep any of those parts in stock, and I'll have to bring the car back in a couple of weeks to get the work done then.
Now, is it only me that's a little surprised that basic consumables like wiper blades and brake pads aren't kept in stock at an NSX specialist?
It's quite a long way for me to take the car to Norton way, but I do it because they're good. If every time I go for a service I end up having to take it twice to get anything extra they find done it becomes a bit less than ideal. Anyone else found the same sort of problem with the place they take their car to?
Cheers, Rich.

Yes.
Nothing NSX wise is held in stock.
Wiper blades, just get some from Halfords.
Discs and pads, get them somewhere else Bazza at VTEC direct, SOS, dali etc, bring your car around here and I'll fit them. My labour rate is slightly cheaper than Honda's ;)
In fact I think it works out at around a pint an hour.

Definately listen to this.Honda will sting you for about £50-£60 for a set of wiper blades

Simons correct, HUK never stock parts for the NSX. I got my AP Dixcels front disc brakes from Bazza for a great price, HUK wanted nearly 600 squids as they are bespoked to the car!:angry: Simon, a pint an hour! Thats bargain of the century!:beer:

Unless is a pint of fine port!
The problem is brandwide. I went to get some filters for the Landcruisers today, and only managed to get enough for the oil changes as they only had one Air filter in stock!
Cheers,

Like you I use them as my NSX has history with them almost back to its first registration 10 yrs ago.
There was talk about another Dali GB and the potential to run this event 2/3 times a year.
I've a service due soon so if people are interested ............?

Oh that's steep. The quote they gave me for the wiper blades was ok actually (32 quid the pair I think they said), and likewise the brakes weren't anything to be scared of. The brake disks were though, about 7-800 quid the pair I think.

I'm very tempted to get the parts myself and just have my neighbour who runs a little garage fit them. Trouble is I'm a complete numpty when it comes to car parts and don't know what I should get.
Got any recommendations from VTEC direct? Since I'm replacing disks and pads at the front I guess I can go for whataever I fancy there, but since I'm leaving the disks at the rear does it matter what pads I should get for that?
Cheers, Rich.

Hi Paul,
Yeah looking on Dali I can get the OEM bits I need and save a packet, I'd certainly be interested.

I'm definitely interested in a Dali GB.
I have a few things I want and may even bring a clutch over (minus flywheel as I don't want too much $$$ sitting on the shelf!)

....go to a motor factors and buy some Bosch wiper blades, probably cost you about £10-12...

Ok, If I want to get these bits (and maybe a couple of others) in the group buy, what do I need to do? Do I just order them on the website and then specify somehow that they're part of the GB? Or do I need to give the details of what I want to someone who does all the ordering in one go?
Cheers, Rich.

....that's just for the refills, not the whole wiper by the looks of it....

Did we ever reach a conclusion on the clutch GB discussions? Savings in the US are so significant it looks like a no brainer to have one on standby!

This is what I used earlier. If the arm/holder are in good nick, then this is a cost effective refresh IMO

Feel free to add one to the Dali GB ;)
