View Full Version : NEW Speedo faces

Over the past month or so I have been talking to a company about making a new speedo face for my JDM NSX. Reason for this is by law [well here in Ireland] the car must display a dual reading i.e. MPH/KMH

As most will know the JDM NSX’s come over here with just a KMH dial and then are usually converted to MPH and a sticker put over the KMH logo.
For me, I found this quite tacky to be honest and as mentioned still doesn’t serve my purpose of needing a dual read out.

The other option is to find a UK speedo and put this in but,

1. I prefer the JDM dial as it uses most of the face unlike the UK speedo, finishing at the ¼ past mark
2. Finding a UK cluster used for reasonable money is difficult
3. Buying it new is very costly!!

So this is where the company I have been talking too comes in, they make proper OEM quality dials, [not a sticker face] with proper illumination and OEM fit. They currently have my JDM dial and are in the process of making the new dual readout version. Not only this but they are also adding an extra click making the dial a 200mph display! Also as my car doesn’t have cruise control, they are making a dial for me that doesn’t have the cruise control cut out, so will be similar to the NSX-R

I have also spoke to them about making a UK version of the dial with an added click making the UK dials 200mph to which is not a problem and as I currently have a UK dial then this one can be used as the base design for the UK cars.

I should have the cost of this in the next few days.

If anyone else is interested or you think a group buy could be of interest the please let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

If you guys have any questions about any other ideas for the dials then also please fire away!!

Hi Sudesh,

I don't now if you have seen this thread but it might be another option for you, if you can still get hold of them that is !

Don't know if it's the look you are going for but I quite like them.

Regards Pete.

Hi Pete,

Yeah I seen those before but prefer the OEM look. Plus those dials are in the UK/US setup so wouldnt be correct for my JDM car.

Well here is a pic of the new speedo face. The quality is great and the fit and finish is perfect and illumination is the same as OEM.

However I'm not happy with one small feature and thats the positioning of the MPH and KM/H logos. I wanted these to be the same as the later UK NSX and on the NSX-R replica dial which is the second pic.

So I have sent the dial back to the drawing board to have another one made with the logos re-positioned and wil hopefully have it next week.

Yes, Great quality......but you need the KPH numbers inside the markers rather than outside as it will look cramped with the MPH numbers. :)

....seems to be an abundance of them around at the moment....shame the kph figures are in the wrong place (as SS also noticed).

Wouldnt say an abundance, The pic of the one on ebay is mine and the seller obviosly doesnt know much about the NSX speedo as the one that was made for me, wont suit other NSX's correctly without a few other changes. Also I have a new one made which I should have this week.

Hi,

The crusie control is not on my dial as I removed all the crusie control items from my car as per the NSX-R so I had a specific dial made for me, thats how I know the one on ebay is a pic of mine. However a dial can be made with the cut out for cruise.

I'm not 100% sure but, I dont think the shift light was on the pre-facelifted NSX-R.

Shift lights are on the rev counter. Not so effective on the speedo.

Hi,
I have a JDM car currently in Brunei and I am interested in obtaining a dual mph/kph speedo face, please let me know the costs. I would like to keep my cruise control light however.
Cheers

Well as my dash was used earlier in the thread for a detail shot, here's the full upgrade ... shift lights in the tacho as they should be.

Shift lights were only on the NA2 R dash. Mine are not yet functional although I have the option to do so. . . maybe a small project some time.

regards, Paul

Hi,

As soon as I have the new dials made up I'll PM you more details. Please keep in mind this dial is for JDM cars that have a converter so the car actually reads and clocks up in miles.
