Had a 1991 NSX In 1993 and just looking at returning to the club!

Please tell me, from memory I recall that electric assistance was added
to the NSX steering at a later point. Can anyone please tell me what that year this was, the wheels were later uprated too, were both these mods carried out at the same time?

Thanks

1994 saw the EPS introduced as well as the 7 spoke Blade alloys.

Just a bit more info: EPS was standard on all Auto cars from 1991 on.

1994 saw the EPS introduced as well as the 7 spoke Blade alloys.

It (EPS) was added to manual gearbox cars for MY'95 (at the same time as the bigger wheels) and then the steering rack (ratio) was changed (for manual cars only) for MY'96. Since it's introduction EPS could not be deleted i.e. if you bought a post MY'95 manufactured NSX it came fitted with EPS... period. There's been some tweaking of the steering's electronic control unit over the years but it's been essentially the same system since 1995.

Techie article here... http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/Electric_Power_Steering

NSX's tended to hang around (not sell) when new and many have had the bigger wheels retrofitted so check the year of manufacture to ensure you're getting what you expect and want. It's not difficult to tell if EPS is fitted, just try parking the car :)

There's lots of debate about whether manual or powered steering is preferable but in the end it's up to the individual to decide what they prefer.

Good luck with your search for the right NSX for you. There's a couple very nice club members cars available right now :)

Cheers

Thanks guys thats really useful, I recall that regular Gym sessions were useful when parking my 91 model. That was in 93 though.........16 years, good grief!

I'm In talks with the owner of a 93 car and a 95 car too.

The 95 Is a silver car on P/Heads, its a Cat C, I've seen the pics before the repair, It wasnt huge. Of course the car will always be a recorded vehicle but as I want a NSX to mod anyway for track us with long term ownership In mind this doesnt phase me. asking price Is £12,500. Needs some work, Air Con Rads missing, needs new from springs plus other bits, nothing really major. I think Its worth around £11K...77,000 mile car.

£10k top in my opinion. A/C rads and cowling etc is dear if new. Also there may well be lots of moisture in the remainder of the open pipework and components so they may need replacing.

I know you'll probably not bother about the A/C if you are going to use it on track but why should the seller know that. Price in all the A/C parts, regas etc.

Cat C or D would normally bump 40% off value. It's a £15K car if no accident damage I reckon.....

Just my thoughts, I like a bargain!!

I have a disability In my left arm following an accident in 1986 which left me with just 60% use so I'm tempted to go for a later car. Does anyone know If the steering becomes heavy If the early cars none PS cars are fitted with the later larger factory 7 spoke alloys?

My opinion of the Cat C car value is similar to Hagasan's but the seller thinks he will get over £12K for It.

Much appreciate your help guys.

Steering will potentially be heavier as the earlier tyres are 205's, the later tyres are 215's.
