View Full Version : S2 ... 2009 facelift

As some of you will have seen from the Japfest photo thread, S2 has had a facelift for 2009. I have also now fitted the Enkei's that were subject to all the shipping delays earlier in the year. These are 17/18 and I've chosen the new Hankook Evo12 tyres
The wrap was done by these guys www.raccoon.co.uk (http://www.raccoon.co.uk) who were very professional. I popped back to see them in the week to refinish a couple of areas and this was no problem for them. If you want further info please speak to Beth. Whilst there they had just completed a Matt Black Keonig and were half way through a Pearl wrap on a Maybach!
I have been contemplating having the front of the NSX repainted to loose 10 yrs worth of stone chips. However, doing this will loose the originality of the car. So for me, the wrap does two things. It prevents further chips and gives me a new look for as long as I decide to keep it. The material is guaranteed for 3yrs and is treated like normal paint for washing and waxing.
Here a few photo's of my finished car with which I'm very pleased.
See you around soon
regards, Paul

That's a pretty impressive process, does it feel and look like a painted vehicle or more along the lines of the clear film stone chip protection?

The wheels certainly finish the transformation. Well done Paul.

Your car looks fantastic Paul - I cant wait to see it in the 'flesh'.
I presume you had to notify your insurance co. re. change of colour.
So......how would an NSX look in matt black????

Paul,
Like I said at the Bracknell fest, you car really works fo me! you then go and knock my socks off at Japfest!! Awsome job.....I Like a lot, and the fact it can go back to it's original flavour if and when required makes it a very viable option
Cheers

Nicely done Paul. I think I prefer S2 as it was but as you say you can always go back :)
A few people have lusted after Lime Green Metallic, this is your chance to try it for size... if you're brave enough ;)

If I was keeping the car I'd think about it, not sure where you stand with the V5 / DVLA on colour change either ??

Ary, over to you my friend :)
Ian, Matt Black was the other option I considered but too close to what I had, hence going for the white.
As its a temporary change there is not a requirement to notify DVLA. I did call the insurance company and they were of the same view.
As for the chrome look, I'll leave that to the footballers and gumballers amongst us ...
Thanks for all the comments ... it is a bit of fun, looks great and as you say Mark, when I fancy the change I can alwys go back to Magnum or ....:)

How much does it cost?
To determine the cost of wrapping a vehicle, a number of variables need to be taken into account. These include vehicle type, quantity of vehicles, location, graphic coverage, life expectancy of graphics and warranty/guarantee requirements.
To help you determine the viability of a project, below are ‘ballpark’ costs for the most popular vehicles. Please note that these are for a one off vehicle wrap, using customer supplied artwork and the vehicle being delivered to our Edenbridge premises for application. It also assumes full coverage of the vehicle, including any windows.
Smart Car - £900
VW Beetle - £1,200
Ford Transit Connect - £1,400
Mwb Transit - £1,700
Mercedes CL600 - £2,000
Double Decker Bus - £7,000

You've given me an idea...might get my seat backs wrapped by them...
Looks great in the flesh, Paul, and even better with the new wheels in your pics. I wonder if anyone will think "I didn't know they ever made a NSX-R targa??" :)
I was wondering ... what would an NSX look like in Gulf colours :dunno: ... and would it be worth doing a wrap to find out...

Overheard that line twice at the weekend .... did make me smile:)
I also think the Enkei's work better with the white and completes the transformation nicely.
Simon, They have done seat backs a couple of times. When I was in last week I was talking to guy who has a new GT3 on order that he is considering a white CF wrap. I suggested he match the seats and thats when Beth confirmed they have done seats in normal CF.

I did contemplate it before going White/Black but its so close to Magnum that I decided against it. If I have an 02 car I'd do it in a flask as I think it shows of the lines of the NSX superbly! Your NSX for example would look stunning in Matt or Satin black IMO.
I'm pretty sure I'll be going back to Magnum next year ... although ...

Also you got to be very brave! Even more its in metallic, unlike those on Porsche GT3, Gallardo, Focus RS. Having said that seen one/two Sciroccos and thought, they are really nice.

I really dunno about the metallic... Flat acidy green on the cars you mention (gt3 et al) can look very straight-edge, it works really well; to me the metallic looks a bit dirty and grungy and works a lot better on the high-shouldered, low roofed "brutal" line of the vw than it would on the oppositely-styled nsx....

Thanks, there's never enough time, but I'm not on a fixed rotation out here, so I'm in the fortunate position where I can choose when I take my leaves, therefor I just save most of it for the summer ;)

Dave, I like the idea of colour coded toys. I have a Westfield that is nearing completion, in things to do not necessarily elapsed time, and I intend to paint it IOP to match the NSX :)
W.R.T to Lime Green Metallic, I don't think this colour would work well with a wrap as the colour needs to SHINE and you just can't get that depth and bling with vinyl wrap. The flat greens of the Muira and Stratos would work better.
Cheers

It's an SeW i.e. the live rear axle chassis. I wanted this as it enables the lightest build. Aeroscreen (no screen), no heater, 13" Revolution wheels. I'm hoping to get sub 400kg all up.
I have a running but MOT failure ZZR1100 parked next to it that will eventually donate its heart and lungs (engine and gearbox) but recent changes to SVA, now IVA, mean motorcycle engines are harder to get through and gain an age related rather than "Q" registration. So I'm thinking of completing it with a car engine/'box for IVA and registration then converting to ZZR power.
The rest of the running gear, suspension uprights, brakes is Ford (Sierra or Escort). I might have to upgrade some of these to get below 400kg but with a reliable 150hp from the old Kwaka motor, they still love them for grass track cars, it should be fast enough. :)
It's about 75% complete right now, a rolling chassis with unconnected loom, with the engine decision pending. Don't old your breath though, my current job doesn't give me enough time to spend on it. Especially when there's an ancient hydraulic Citroen (CX) and the NSX to fettle and play with.
Cheers

Best of luck Mark, look forward to seeing some pics of this in the future, Kwaka power is the way to go, haven't been without one for 22 years now (bikes of course), plenty of smashes, but never any engine problems - touch wood!!!
There's been a fashion for dragging up old threads of late ;-)
I wondered what an NSX in Gulf colours might look like - well I saw this and it does look kinda cool...
