I'm not working this year so am contemplating going. Is there a better day to go, like Friday to miss the crowds or do they have different 'shows' each day meaning you're liable to miss something good if you only go one day?

Sometimes some of the cars break down in the practices on Friday, which means they don't make it to Sunday.

Cheers, that is helpful, but also good to have the extended info from people that have been though.

The Friday is a nice day to mooch around, however the Sunday is always the best day to go, however a lot busier :( (All in my opinion of course, have only been for 3 or 4 years)

I went, at a last minute decision to the Goodwood FOS. Had the luck to do something different this year. So here's what happened and maybe some tips for you next time to try.

First I had to drop off some stuff to someone staying the Goodwood Park hotel. So I had to drive and park in the car park there. I had no probs driving in, despite the security just by saying I am dropping off some stuff for a guest. The hotel car park, is a short walk to the start line.

I was with a product manager for Nissan on the day, and was given some hospitality stuff. This got me access to the sponsors enclosure (the Qatar Airways one). However I realised that no one ever checks the passes to get in. So my tip is dress smart, and walk in like you own the place. I had a private area to watch the action, on the first bend, while sitting next to Lewis Hamilton's dad.

Lastly I had a pass for tea in the House. Again, at 4pm when tea is served, no one checks passes. Just walk in, through to the back and help yourself to tea and cake!

If I had known these things years ago I might of had a better time. They say there is no such thing as a free lunch but Sunday I certainly did courtesy of Nissan and the GTR team! I even had access to the Drivers Club (which did need a pass) and got to walk the red carpet while fans waited for autographs, sadly though asking for mine, don't they know who I am??

Like it.

Another tip from a friend. If you own a Breitling watch you get free access to their tent and refreshments. My mate strolled in managed to get some free beers before the hostess looked at his wrist and noticed the lack of correct hardware and politely told him to drink up.
Good I suppose if you actually have a Breitling watch.

The girl in the GTR is my friend who I mooched the NISSAN hospitality from. She gets to keep that car at her house in Switzerland. Do you have any more pics of the GTR?

Sorry was concentrating on the Zonda too much and the camera was in manual mode, not enough time to catch both cars.

SS, are you refering to the guy on the left or right!? :D

The sound of the Zonda was amazing, the only cars matching it is those priceless MB racing cars from the 30/40s with those awesome superchargers!

Can't believe I missed that F40, especially in white!

Can't believe I missed that F40, especially in white!

Not surprisingly that was the last run it did, it did not come back down the hill.

The F40's clutch was burned out at the top of the hill while the cars queue up to turn round.

I would have thought the amount of smoke and noise just after the picture I took above had something to do with it too........

A little (!) late to this thread, but here are a few photo's which may be of interest.

Generally the FoS was as interesting & exciting as usual. I especially liked the adition of the 'top 10 shoot out' on Sunday afternoon - when the 10 fastest cars/drivers run up the hill one after the other in an attempt to set fastest time of the weekend - Justin Law was again mighty in the Jaguar XJR12. However there were some very noticeable absentees - there was no official Honda presence whosoever - no trade stand, no cars, no bikes. Also missing were BMW & Renault - both long time supporters of the festival.

First a few snaps of the astonishing Zonda R - the gentleman cleaning the wheels of the car is Horatio Pagini - a very affable, friendly gentleman.

The Audi feature in front of Goodwood House & Jenson driving a Merc. Silver Arrow instead of his Brawn F1 car - this was not permitted under the current F1 rules as it would have constituted 'testing' (all the other GP teams in attendance were able the run previousyear cars, not an option for Brawn of course).

F1 cars past and present - I was especially pleased to see the lovely, delicate Adrian Newey designed Leyton House car - driven with great verve to second fastest time of the weekend up the hill.

A striking family resemblance I thought? Bruno ran the MP4/4 up the hill a couple of times before technical problems sadly intervened.

One of my favourite cars - the Jag XJR12 which I fondly remember seeing racing at Le Mans

The sort of sight you can only see at teh Goodwood FoS.
