So............. the FXX is allowed on the lap board but the Caparo T1 isn't, how does that work ??

Does the Caparo have front lifting suspension to get over speed bumps or as TG calls them " sleeping policeman "?

Doesn't matter,the FXX isn't street legal.

If they allowed the FXX...they should allow the Ultima Can Am!

Schumacher got his project Enzo FXX in July 2006 and took delivery at the Nurburgring....hence Top Gear's appearance together i imagine (though i dont know if that black project car was his one). The Caparo T1 posted 1.10:06 on TG but at that point the car was not on general sale and looking at the maintenance record of fires and brake failures i dont think anyone was going to put it on the TG lap time board or put their hand in their pocket and buy one either. The FXX was not a street legal car but a mobile test bed, hence the reason owners dont take delivery but only use it by arrangement.

The Caparo T1 was on general sale at the time of the test and the first owner had already taken delivery.

Not according to this first TG test. Its quite a long piece to dedicate to a bag of sh1t but Clarkson explains at the time of the test they were not yet on sale...probably just as well with the problems at the time (even during this piece) maybe they sorted it out since but haven't seen one on PH yet.

Just checked the dates..........
Top gear lap test was 11/11/07 and the first customer car was delivered around March 2008 so yes you are right. (But they were taking orders)

I know the Ultima holds the world record for 0 -100 & 100 to 0 record, but around the trackI think it would struggle to go to the top? Look at the Bug with over 1000 bhp & 4wd and its not even in the top 3!

Weight and mass is the answer to your observation. The Ultima is a much lighter car!

Speed is not even the issue here. Its easy to make a fast car that will go off like a rocket for a lap or two - but sustaining that power is the problem....we all know it better as "reliability". The Caparo is a good example of a bad attempt rushed through development to fit in with a TV schedule with bits still dropping off during the TG show. It nose reminded me of Mansell's old FF1600 Javelin which i drove in the 80's...but at least the Javelin could do a fast lap without catching fire.
