I've been working on a replacement for my keyless entry key fob. My car came with the OEM Honda keyless entry and security system and I only received one key fob when I bough my car and its pretty tired looking and dated.
After researching the OEM setup I found that allot of the components are now obsolete and cant be purchased. I also spoke to my Honda dealer and from what they told me; the OEM Honda system was never sold in the UK and the security system in most of there cars was supplied by a outside company called "Hamilton & Palmer"!! Not sure how true that is??
Anyway, I didn’t want to go any great expense on replacing the system I had just for a key fob so I decided to try something else.
I purchased a central locking system that came with 2 key fobs and control unit, [more key fobs can be added and coded if required]
It's a nice neat system and the key fobs are small and quite plain, which is what I wanted.

I've been testing this today and I have been able to mate the system to the OEM setup and retain all the OEM feature and security with no problems! I'm going to do a few more tests but at the moment all the OEM security feature are in place such as the immobiliser, horn sounding upon break and entry, lights flash when you auto lock/unlock and so on.
I may also be able to add features such as "remote boot/trunk open" and panic alarm.
I just need to work on the "pin outs" wire codes to see which is which.

Hamilton & Palmer did in fact make Honda branded alarms.....They also made Porsche branded ones as well(probably many other too). When I needed a replacement part for my Porsche a good few years ago H&P gave me the equivalent Honda part details.....Result, Porsche £300+, Honda £85!!

Finished the install today and all working great.
The system comes with extra cables that I didn require so in order to tidy it up I done a few mods. There were a few wires that required to be all tied together to a common line. So in order to keep the install tidy I decided to bypass the external method of mating of wires and went with an internal bypass by soldering 2 joints.

With the joints soldered I removed the extra wires that I didnt need and was left with just 4 wires. I changed the color codes of the wires to keep it the same as OEM setup.

As mentioned the brain of the system was very nice and neat

I installed the brain in the correct location and then added some OEM style outer tubing to cover the wires and here's how it all looks in position.

Hi Sudesh,
Whats next weeks gem ... ?
On a serious note, where is this location you detail in the attached photo please? I've just had some excellent work completed by Kaz and he mentioned that the install is not ideal. I need to improve and wondered where this 'slot' is please?
regards, Paul

Hi Paul,
Not sure what you mean or Kaz means by the intall not being ideal?
I'll PM you the location as, for security reasons I dont want to pin point it on a open forum.

Ah Right! My mistake Paul. Think what Kaz may be picking up on is the "ORIGINAL FACTORY HONDA" security system which is on my car.
PM sent.

Hi, Sudesh.
Looking very nice installation (almost like factory fitted).
In order to answer your email, please allow me to share the following information with other members.
Until FEB/93 model, there was no factory fitted security/keyless entry system on our NSX. It was one of the optional accessories.
This optional part came with security and keyless entry system as a set and looked like this.
6086
As it was using the infra-red for the remote fob, the user had to point the fob towards the receiver which was installed on top of the interrior door panel at the rearward of the door glass.
Since FEB/93, the security system was factory fitted but the keyless entry system was still as an optional item (at least for JDM). The fob was modified to utilize radio signal instead of infra-red so more user friendly.
Just as a side note, we had lots of interesting NSX optional accessories when NSX was first introduced. There were watches, driving shoes&glove, travelling bag, etc. We even had NSX eau de cologne like this.

Hi Kaz!
Thats similar to the system I have but mine is radio signal. The big key fob is terrible looking, and as I only had one fob, though it was due a change lol. I have an NSX watch somewhere too.

Sudesh, wow a NSX watch! I would love to see it if you can get your hands on it? Is it made by Seiko by any chance?

One of my original key fobs failed recently, I asked Barnsley Honda to explore a solution, Terry in parts dept came up with a company called tech-tronics.co.uk who have sent a replacement which works perfectly.
Hope this may help someone with the old Hamilton and Palmer system.
I havn't located the key socket to disarm the system yet does any one know where this may be hidden?
Regards Martyn
