I've already made a couple of posts about the trip we've been on, but we just got back yesterday... 14 days, 2717 miles, 84 gallons of fuel (a mix of 97, 95 and 100 RON) - >32mpg! The car was fantastic, got lots of attention and barely put a foot wrong - and we saw not a single other NSX on the whole jaunt :)
The itinerary, if anyone wants to know more about the stops/what to do, where to stay etc, was:
1- Reading - Reims
2- Reims - Lausanne
3- Lausanne - Montreux
4- Montreux - Verbania (L Maggiore) over GSB
5- Verbania - Lenno (L Como)
6- Lenno - Parma (via Bellagio and some to-die-for roads south of Parma)
7- Parma - Bologna (via Maranello, Modena, Sant'Agata etc)
8- Bologna
9- Bologna - Merano (via mountain road & Riva del Garda, Trento)
10- Merano - Davos (via Stelvio, Bormio, Livurgno - basically the reverse of the Top Gear route)
11- Davos - Baden-Baden (via Zuffenhausen)
12- Baden-Baden
13- Baden-Baden - Adenau (via the Nordschleife :D)
14- Adenau - Reading (mostly boring motorways)
I wound the car up to an indicated 140 on the first stretch of empty Autobahn (I suspect it was more like 125-130 given the reading I recall getting from the GPS) and holy hell, what a noise! It's probably worse cos mine's a targa, but there's no way we could cruise at anything more than an indicated 125 without it being really intrusive - sounded like the wind was going to tear the roof off, and take the door/window seals with it.
I didn't get a chance to try to better than speed :(
Thanks to markc for the great write up (http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/index.php?categoryid=26&p2_articleid=34) that was the inspiration for this epic trip, and to sassthathoopie for giving us the thought about going over the Grand St Bernard - the weather on the day was fabulous and it was well worth the trip. Makes a change from the way up to Stelvio (http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/testvb/showthread.php?t=6865)!
I can't wait to start planning the next trip...
cheers
