Well inspired by the NSX-R and Pauls thread here: http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/testvb/showthread.php?t=6866
I decided to do the same. I also believe the facelift NSX comes with the mesh intake.
Anyway, I was originally looking for the OEM vents but at over £300 a side I couldnt see the logic in paying around £700 with vat etc for some pieces of plastic.
So I think Pauls method was the way to go.
The tools required:

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00463.jpg
Started by jacking up the car and removing the wheels.
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00441.jpg
With the wheels removed you need to remove the wheel well lining.
There are 4 screws that need to be removed on the side closest to the vent. 3 visible screws and one tucked into a recess.

After removing the screws you need to remove the black retaining clips, To remove the clips you push the little eye in slightly and the clips will come free:

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00445.jpg
You dont have to remove all the clips, I just went about half way and then folded the molding back beind the brake.

With the moulding out of the way you can now see the vent.
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00451.jpg
The vent is held by 2 FLOWER bolts which are tucked away at the back of the vent.
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00450.jpg
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00448.jpg
These FLOWER bolts are quite hard to access but I found that by using a NO22 closed ended spanner of a decent length, the nuts were easily accesed and you only need a little turn of the flower bolts to free them and the rest can be done by hand.
So with the bolts removed the vents slides out

With the vent free there are 2 small bolts and 2 pins with a push on clasp

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00477.jpg
Unscrew the bolts and then with a prying tool I pulled the little clasps free

Be careful not too loose the bolts or clasps.

Vent inernals are now free:
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00480.jpg
Next take the mesh and cut off a decent size
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00481.jpg
Make sure you cut the mesh so you have closed ends on either side
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00483.jpg
Take he mesh and place it on the vent, I started at the side with the pins, put the holes of mesh over the pins.

Then take the clasps and a pair of pliers and flatten the clasps with the pliers, you need to do this in order for the clasps to re-seal on the pins tightly.

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00486.jpg
When your done put the clasps on the pins and push all the way up tight to the mesh.
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00488.jpg
With that side secure I then pulled the mesh tight and bent it into shape over the two holes where the wee bolts go, with it pulled tight I took the bolts and overside washers and screw the mesh up tight:
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00466.jpg
I went with the oversized washers to get a real strong tight fit on the mesh as I didnt want the mesh shifting or ratteling at idle etc

I then took the cutters and tided up all the ends:

To make it even more secure and tight I flattened down all the ends and molded and shaped it round all the edges etc

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/icongroup/NSX-R%20SIDE%20VENT/DSC00472.jpg
Forgot to mention that, As an added touch I put some sound deadning around the flat spot to stop the mesh from making any rattles.

With the mesh now in place re-install the vent
With the vent installed you get a good tight fit against the mesh, and with the sound deading in place the mesh doesnt move or rattle:

and that's it!!
Job done.

It took me roughly 30mins to do the complete install!:)
It a really nice mod, I think it makes the car look more up to date too and fresh.

Sudesh, I really enjoyed your step by step guide to updating or refreshing the side vents, I might even have a go one day! I didn't know the 02+ had this mesh look already? Your DIY update must be a fraction of the £700 squids! You have done a great job.

Thanks Guys for the replys!
From my JDM parts list and the UK parts list, the 2002+ comes with the same mesh as the NSX-R. I have not seen the mesh myself on the 2002+ cars, but I think its black plastic. Some of the other members with the 2002 plus cars could take a look for us?
The price from Honda for these vents are £337.87 each so for 2 vents with VAT total price is: £777.10!! That is clearly madness.
The older style vents are only £47.18 each! I couldnt believe the difference in price.
Anyway, total cost of my install which is the MESH at £18.94 delivered and if I want to be real fussy and take in a few washers, say 50p, then total is: £19.44!! I had the washers already lol.
Great job Sudesh,
I have teh same mod on mine, one suggestion is to use painters blue masking tape aroung the wing opening as not all of us are as careful as you. :)
I found that windscreen bonding or vehicle adhesive do a great job of helping the washers secure the vents.
Cheers,

So, I finally came to fit my mesh side vents, only bought them about 3 years ago. . . Anyway, first nylon nut I try to undo just spins. Any tips on getting the offending nut off?
Was thinking of a wooden wedge between the inner wing and vent to keep the pressure on the nut and hope it cuts itself a new thread?
Anyone got any bright ideas?

Thats pretty tight access in there, did you try putting pressure on the vent from the outside, get someone to gently push it in and then turn the bolt and pull at the same time?

I loosened it no problem, I managed to get a 22mm ratchet spanner onto it and loosened it 1/4 turn before it spun continuously, suspect it's cross threaded. Luckily I was able to tighten it up again before I gave up for the day.

Yes.
Were you looking for the weight of them in another thread?
My painted CF ones are 295g each.
