Just spotted 32 NSX is up for auction on the 3rd of December through the DVLA. A nice christmas present for anybody with an NA2 model, just put the screw in the right place and a blob of black paint...3.2 NSX.

Didn't say. But I would guess a few grand unless the person does not know the relevance of the plate.

If it's a DVLA auction then there's usually a guide price, also there will be buyers from most of the plates companies there so I would imagine it will go for near 5 figures. (Well unless no one bids against the pro's)

As a side note I know that 8 NSX (I think, or it could be NSX 8) is up for sale, from memory it's £2.5k and if anyone's interested then I can put you in touch with the seller.

8 NSX sold just last month for £1300 at the DVLA
and 30 NSX sold for £1700 2 years ago as I fancied it then, I think I bid £1300 on it actually.

Probably not, but I bet it will end up in that region if it gets advertised on one of the number plate websites.

I saw a plate a couple of years ago (that we bid on) sell for £1,200 and be on that companies website the same day for £19,995

dunno.. but I've never got this whole spending £,000's on number plate thing.

I could see a one or two hundred quid as a laugh, but add another 0 and just seems perverse.
I Would get a much better over-all 'feeling' giving this type of money to favorite charity, than the government.
Maybe I'm missing a trick or just not making enough dosh

32 NSX has a reserve of £450.

4 NSX sold for £500 over its reserve of £600 so it seems very unlikely that 32 NSX would get to many thousands.

NSX 1 is up for sale at NewReg for £30k. Madness.

I thought about bidding for "DAL70N" (similar to my surname) a few years ago but it sold for about £4k in the end, which was way more than I ever would spend on a plate. Straight away it was up for £25k on NewReg or similar...

But the ultimate plate is surely F1. The guy who owns that has apparently turned down offers of more than £5m ... will sell it for > £10m including the white Veyron that currently wears the plate...

Although 3.2 NSX is very cool I think I'd rather something like 4 Nsx. Given the very small number of 3.2s out there I doubt it'll fetch much over a grand unless two peeps out there really want it. The 'pros' won't be interested unless they're bidding purely to push the price up for someone else. Just my thrupence of course! If I didn't have S5 then I'd have a punt but it's not much better than my £250 plate I don't think.

No 3.8 for me FI is the way to go IMHO, even at low boost with a lightweight car, the results can be fun.

Never understood the private plate thing. Sure if your car happens to have one when you buy it, but isn't the no ego ethos of NSX ownership opposed to conspicuous plate status?

I quite like "NSX" plates, because it conveniently fits the car, rather than being a contrived attempt at one's name or something equally self-obsessed. But then I'm a cheapskate who'd sooner change his name to V614 FVN than pay good money for a personal plate.

There is a great investment potential with the really 'special' ones though; unless the car gets written off - so does that £30,000 plate too!

T1NSX came with one of my cars, so did the current one. I did get a number plate that legally spells my wifes name and it has gone up 3K in the last year and a bit so as an investment is not a bad one.

Similarly to Ary, Y1 NSX came with my car (indeed, it is the plate the car has carried from new).

I like the plate & it just seems 'right' on the car.

One thing you guys are not accounting for is that there is Vat on the hammer price then buyer’s premium 7.5% plus Vat along with assignment fee £80.00 on all of theses sale prices – so actually when you are quoting that a particular plate only went for ‘X’ amount your totally wrong! add the amounts in that you have neglected to include and it bumps the price of the plate up considerably.

I was led to believe that as long as the car has insurance,MOT and tax,then a plate can be transeferred,written off or not :dunno:

While the car is still yours (before it belongs to the insurance company if a payout is given) you can get the number plate retained or transfered.

The number plate has to be transferred from the wreck. It only dies with the car if you choose to let it. Sometimes DVLA insists on seeing the wreck but 99 times out of 100 will transfer no problem.

I'm in agreement especially with James about do we need a NSX plate to tell the world what your car is? I have been toying with the idea for ages, but decided against a NSX specific plate so far. If it came along with the car, then thats understandable.
