New nsx leather replacements

Well I have been working with a company on producing replacement leather for certain parts of the car.

So what I did was to send them the:

OEM single lid arm rest [producing NSX-R style no badge, and OEM with badge]
OEM Twin Lid Arm rest [no badge]
Handbrake Gaiter
Door entry pads
Gear Gaiter/boot

These guys are top of there game in my opinion, the replacement parts are real nappa leather with no grain and stitching as per OEM spec.

They can produce the replacement parts in any color with any color of stitching.

Once I receive my parts back I'll take HIGH GUALITY pics of the work.

Ok, I received the hand brake gaiter and have to say its first class, much superior leather to the original, you know right away from the touch, and the smell of the nappa leather is refreshing lol.

I also have sent them the driver and passenger side door arm rest so they will make replacement covers for those too.

This looks really good Sudesh and clearly is better in the flesh from your comments. I have always fancied the idea of two tone leather in the cabin. Price seems very good as well for hand made gear

Well I just though it would be nice to help the club and owners as nobody is doing these bits in the UK; in fact I dont think anyone is doing these item anywhere? I have used these guys in the past for other items and was mighty impressed.

The Type-S (and the S2000s) look quite smart like that; not a bad way of updating the car a tad.

The idea of replacement seat covers (bolster wear) is a great idea. I understand that there is a LOT of skill in fitting them tidily though; it's a lot harder than changing the bed!

Like allot of NSX part's, prices can shock most lol

I really couldnt get over the price of the gear gaiter myself on the later cars, £700+ is something I never expected, That would get a nice suite for the house! even the imitation one at £157 is mad.

So now we all have an alternative and real nappa leather too.

Hopefully will have all the items back next week and I'll start taking some pics.

I'm sure they could do package deals! I can speak to them about that if people are interested. As far a I know they can do just about any color and textures. Only reason I went with the nappa as its one of the best and doesnt have grain/texture like most of the OEM bits.

You just need to peel it off, some of the bits use staples, some are glued. I'll try to take some pics to show you.

I'll second that, I re-done my doors, each little panel comes off individually, and you can quite easily peel off the old leather and glue in what ever you prefer.

First step is to remove the gaiter from the console. With it removed you should have this:

Around the frame you will see 10 staples,

You need to remove the staples first. So pry open the little tabs first and get them as straight as possible.

Its held on with a cable tie [you can buy a new OEM from honda if or use other ties.

With the new gaiter, just do everything in reverse!

What I will say though, just take your time removing the staples as the outer surround can be damaged if easily. I was extra careful with the one above, as it belongs to an NSX owner who bought it to replace a damaged one in his car.

I wouldnt be so worried about small bits or cracks as that can be rpaired easily, but you dont want to loose the tabs that secure it to the console.

This is the one that was in his car and you can see the type of damage that can be done, securing tabs are missing.

When I remover the old gaitor and realised it wasn't leather, I used some of the Alcantara material that I had for the door panels, and made a new gaitor to match. It wasn't too difficult, I carefully removed the old one, unpicked the stiching so that I could use it as templates, cut the new material and then stiched it together and refitted.

I just need to get round to re doing the centre arm rest then I will have a nice matching interior.

Alcantara is a nice material, but a real pain to keep clean and it gets dusty easily.
