Thanks. The NSX was always my dream car from first seeing one in 94 and i don't think this will be my last...i would love to get my hands on a type-r at some stage :) or more likely buy a 'project' car and upgrade it for track use.

Despite what some people think, these cars sell pretty quickly. When I sold my last LBB in November, it took around three weeks. I had plenty of interest and eventually the car went to Hong Kong.

Whilst my car was for sale, there were four facelift cars for sale. They all sold quickly and for solid money. I think this is because they come up so rarely and are becoming an investment rather than a slow running tap.

I guess they fall into the F328, 348, 355 catagory. With the exception of the 348, these cars hold their prices well, but heavily depreciate with mileage. The NSX is not effected to the same degree for obvious reasons.

After spending a couple of months in Porscheland, my advice would be to 1. hold onto what you've got, it's going to be tough to find another one and you'll miss it.

Or 2. if you're going to sell it, hold out for the asking price. what else can you get for that kind of money that you can use, isn't going to lose £5k a year and has the sense of occassion you'll only find with truly expensive stuff?

I have to agree with James that, because of the weakness of Sterling, there are more buyers than cars at the moment so hold out for your price or even invite offers over it (Scottish property style), you may be pleasantly surprised with what you get for it :)

...an update for all. Plenty of interest and more lowish offers around £28/£29k, have had an offer in the low 30's but i'm not tempted just yet. There seems to be plenty of tire kickers about at the moment looking for a bargain but i'm not convinced many of the people calling actually have funds available. As an example: I called one guys bluff of an offer and he then declined; as i thought he would. still waiting for a genuine enthusiast to call :)

Hi all. The car is officially now SOLD not bad after only 9 days. All in all not too painful an experience...i had 6 offers in total and accepted a solid offer excluding the NSX plate.:)

In my opinion, I would agree with the comments previously in this thread and say that if you are looking to sell an NSX then hold out for an offer acceptable. If my experience is anything to go by, there are genuine buyers out there who are willing to pay solid money for the right car.

Interestingly, the car is going to Hong Kong (as James did)...

Pleased that you've sold at a good price for you, but would echo the above that this seems to be happening a lot just lately. I've also been speaking with a few Prime members who have seen several US vehicles go the same route. Their sales have also included the NA2 pop-ups which are appear rarer than facelifts. I guess the same applies here.

The upside could be that late pop-ups become the car of choice if little or no facelifts appear in the marketplace ....

yeah, i would have preffered it to go to a UK enthusiast/buyer but the only offers i got were around the £27/£28K which were way too low...including from members of the NSX CLUB:D The people who were making the serious/realistic offers were from outside of the UK.

Interestingly enough, the chap who bought it is a car collector and he's apparently looking for a mint UK spec NA1 on a H plate also...the earlier cars are equally desirable especially if they are near to or over 20 years old as they don't have to pass stringent emission tests...

I'm not sure how true this is, but I was told that NSX's were not officially imported into HK past 98.

Could be a reason why facelift cars are being snapped up. It could also be wrong.
It's interesting that the last couple to go have been LBB. Perhaps that's a popular colour over there?

I though HK imports were limited to 04+ but I'm obviously wrong. They command great money over there so we'll struggle to get any back. I guess if you want an updated one you'll just have to compete with the HK buyers or else sadly see them all leave :-(

...well if they are changing hands for £80K in HK, i have certainly under sold the car! Its not ideal but i wanted to sell the car and it got sold quickly...i know of one other NA2 owners who told me it took him a year to sell his previously; and i didn't want that.

This would have retailed at around AUD$225,000 back in 2000, so proportionately, it is on a par with a UK car originally retailing at ~70k being around 28k now (how many of you would sell an NA2 pop-uk for 28k?) - 40% residual value after 12 years.

Back in 2000, NSX in Australia were about $35-40k more expensive than in the UK - almost 15k GBP - about 15-20% more.

What has happened in the intervening 12 years is that the Aussie Dollar has become much stronger relative to GBP.....
In 2000 1 GBP would buy AUD 2.50-2.80. In 2012 1 GBP will buy you just 1.47-1.52 AUD :eek:

No wonder UK NSX have been holding their value / appreciating recently, especially as overseas buyers see them as something of a bargain, compared to local cars......

It's not as simple as this however. Many overseas markets have restrictions and large costs relating to the importation of used cars.

Thanks for the comprehensive & interesting explanation Nick. Whilst i had assumed that the strengthenin Aus$ was part of the equation, I had no idea the NSX was so expensive when new in Aus.

As for selling my NA2 pop-up for £28k? Absolutely not - I may be biased/deluded but I feel the market value for my car is somewhere in the mid £30k's.
