Looks great! Like the black wheel, what are the sizes? Are you using spacers as they sit out quite a bit? or is it just the width of the rims?

looks good Rocco, got T1NSX on retention if you are interested.

The wheel size is 8x18 front and 9x18 rears,no spacers, thanks for the offer regarding T1 NSX,but happy with whats on it already.Going to drive to James (250miles) to collect the bonnet, just need to locate a R type rear spoiler.By the way just wanted to say that this forum is very friendly and everyone seems to live on plannet Earth, where as past experience (Lambo/Fezza)has left me thinking are all forums full of cocks, what a car(NSX) and what a forum NSXCB.

I'd hazard a guess the offsets are +45 or less...

Nice one Rocco!

Health to enjoy matey.

The wheels look like O.Z. Ultraleggeras to me.

Did the seller include the original forged wheels?

Yes they are OZ Ultra Leggers and are you ready for this, they are ET35(35 off set) strange! and yes the OEM wheels came with this car.

Hi Rocco,

Well done on grabbing that bonnet, I really do think the 02's look better with it fitted. Do you intend to complete with the other aero parts as well as the rear spoiler?

Only my opinion but I'm not sure the wheel width is the right choice, particularly up front. My other concern is the 'stretched' look to the front tyres. How have you found the feel and response since fitting them?

regards,

Paul

Liking the wheel design, ET35 with a 9 inch rim looks spot on for the rear but a bit too much with an 8 inch rim on the front i.e. they stick out beyond the arch.

liking the wheels alot, very similar to the team dynamics set i had on my evo. The car is looking well

just not so sure about the wheels being over-sized for the arches ... you could end up skitting stones up the side of her

she is looking sweet i have to admit

I'm not a fan of black wheels on red cars personally. I'm surprised if you are going for the Type'R look you are not getting a set of whiteType'R rims?
Agree with Paul, it will look superb with the bonnet done.

Can't say I'm a fan of the black wheels either. They don't look good on any car in my opinion.

Like others have said the Oem wheels are the way to go due to correct off set, diameters etc plus the fact that they look good also. Type R wheels would look very good if you can source them !

Why source them! Just paint the OEM wheels white. :)

Rocco, car looks great & I do like the black OZ Superleggera wheels alot. Black alloys can look great, especially if its in contrast to a lighter body colour IMHO.

Thats exactlly what I would personally do, but I beleive that genuine Type R parts rightly on wrongly hold more kudos in the nsx community. That's possibly the reason why most of us choose to stay close to OEM as possible.

Now when am I eventually going to fit that Type R replica engine cover and genuine expansion bottle condom sat in the garage? :D

Blimey mate you must have had that cover two years! :-)

IMHO even the >02 wheels look a little lost in the arches, they need another 15mm-20mm offset to properly fill them.

Those Superleggera's do it nicely on the rear but go too far (out) on the front. A 17x7.5 rim with 35mm offset might work better.

As Kaz confirmed in an earlier thread the NSX-R wheels are almost identical (same casting etc) as the standard >02 wheels save for some edge cleaning/polishing and some white paint.

Cheers

And yet people will still happily pay strong money for "genuine" Type R wheels.

I must admit the spokes on my wheels do look quite clearly thinner (at the ends) than OEM 02+ wheels. So they at least look a little different

From Rocco's photos it's hard to see whether the fronts stick out too much. It's just with the standard ride height it makes it look worse (being able to see that much of the top of the tyre).

I assume the car isn't pink and the camera isn't doing the paint job any justice!

It does look a bit like a pink 4x4 in some pics. :)

Not so sure about a 4x4.

But in the 1st photo it certainly has the look of a pick-up truck about it!!!!

I'm (very pleased to say) don't know the difference between a ute & a pick-up.....aren't we getting into semantics here?!

The NSX-R wheel mythbusting is toward the end of this thread... http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/testvb/showthread.php?t=7039&page=4&highlight=wheels

The ride height is only effected if the diameter of the new wheel/tyre combo is different to the standard combo. Larger diameter equals taller (ride height) and taller gearing... both bad. The gap between the tyre and wheel arch will also vary slightly, the larger wheel/tyre combo reduces this gap a smidge.

I love the all doors, boot, bonnet etc open pics, especially from directly side on, but if you think that Rocco's car looks a bit on tip toes it's a bit of a visual trick as the larger wheel/tyre combo raises the whole car but reduces the wheel to arch gap.

Tony, what tyre sizes have you fitted to the wheels?

Cheers

Not semantics Ian but colloquialism, a pick-up in the uk is more than likely a commercial derived vehicle, where a ute is an Australian derived word and they are normally car derived pick-ups such as Holden's Maloo

The tryes fitted are 245/40/18 rear 215/35/18 fronts. I dont get the joke in regards to the "pick up" or the "4x4". I honestley thought that i left these type of comments back on the Porsche /Lambo/Fezza forum.Infact i only mentioned the other day on the Porsche forum that they should take a page out of the Nsx forum, maybe i was wrong.Sometimes some of the posts remind me of the days when people used to worship statues as Gods but the statues have gone and cars have replaced them.I love my cars like everyone elese but i dont worship them!

It's the looooooong tail section of the NSX with the engine cover up like your first picture. They can look a bit like the flat bed of a pick-up, a.k.a "Ute" in Austrailianese, like that :) We're poking fun at all our cars not you car.

........ I dont get the joke in regards to the "pick up" or the "4x4"........

Hey Rocco,

This is something that seems to have been carried over from the US NSX site, Prime.com. They have a passion about putting oversized wheels onto the NSX (some have 19/20 combinations) and then dropping the suspension to remove the 'gap' left above the tyre. Very few UK cars get lowered due to our dreadfully pot holed roads!

Its more a visual comment as the low profiles and black wheels you now have only go to make the OEM gap look larger.

At the end of the day, this is now your NSX and do with it as you see fit and what gives you pleasure. Not everyone will agree/like what you do and please dont get over sensitive to light hearted humour, which is simply what these comments are.

Now go and take it for another good drive with your mate and continue to enjoy the experience Honda provided.

regards, Paul

Quite so....it certainly isn't a dig at you or your car in particular.

The 1st day I had my car home, I was cleaning it and had the engine glass up. The lady next door walked by and said 'ooooh, nice colour but it looks like a truck'. I was seriously deflated!

ouch, that's got to hurt especially the first day of ownership. its usually the first thing people comment on, the back end being big.

I think tony should lower the car next :) (I hope you read that tony)

Black floormats certainly tone down the bright red nicely.

Actually, it would be relatively simple to create an NSX 'liftback' by adding a giant cupola right down to the spoiler! Not sure anybody would want to, but they've done shooting break Astons & Ferraris & stuff.

Wasn't the original Celica or Supra a "liftback" ?

I was thinking along the lines of Bertone's Citroen GS Camargue:

Rivington is great for driving, but car can bottom out a little in certain crest/bumpy parts. Also the convoy of modded suped up hatches can get in the way of some fun!

Liking the car. Seeing our one rather low makes me think yours needs to come down an inch though!

I think the offset is fine personally, if you do get it lowered it will come together nicely. Alternatively, we have made some FRP front arches that are cheaper than the SoS ones and wider.

Maybe we can get another NSX alongside ours tomorrow at Japfest so people can see the true difference? There is a more coke bottle shape about the car, yet it still looks factory when observed in isolation.
