What gear oil would you recommend for tracking the car - Honda are just rebuilding mine with the shorter ratios (5speed 1993), and I want to ensure I don't have to do this again!

Many thanks.

Redline MTL, nice and light for track use and excellent synchro protection.

What is the standard Honda stuff they use? I go by schedule, every 2 years or 24kmiles - should I do it more frequently?

If you are tracking your car the normal servicing shedule should be thrown out the window...all fluids need to be changed a lot more frequently.

mainly road use, just a few track days a year.

And as suggested, change gearbox, engine and brake fluids for each event.

I agree with the brake fluid but I think the engine and gearbox oil is excessive.

On a typical trackday you're going to cover less than 150 miles. The components that really suffer are tyres and brakes. Modern good quality engine and gearbox oils are more than capable of dealing with a couple of trackdays a year so just go with the annual or mileage based change.

If your NSX hibernates over the winter, change the oil/s in Spring rather than Autumn as it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere while sitting there all winter.

Cheers
