Right ok,

I have a local Honda maindealer i was going to take my car to for servicing however they don't really work with the NSX often.

TDI-PLC are pretty close to me, well close enough.

Plans Motorsport i think are a bit of a drive for me.

Basically i wanted to go to Honda purely for that stamp in the service book however Plans specialise in the NSX and TDI have had some involvement with some of the fastest ones in the UK. So from a paper work point of view i want to go to Honda but from a logical/know how point of view it should go to one of the above.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this thought and what they ended up deciding.

I want the lifters adjusting as you can hear they need doing but also going to give it a service, it's not due but i want it to have one.

Personally I would go to the people who know most about the car and know how to work with them and get the best from them ... Therefore my opinon would be to go to Plans. A Honda stamp is only useful for warranty after that a good specialist is better than any dealer. Take a look at Kaz on here, go to him or a dealer there is only one choice. My car is with Sudesh and he is doing a lot to my car cause he knows these cars inside out and would trust him ahead of any Honda dealership unless he specifically told me otherwise to go. I think Plans did work on my car prior to owning, so previous owner was happy to take the car to them.

It sounds like your in Essex, if you must have a stamp Honda at Bexley in Kent comes recommended (10mins from Dartford crossing), but if you want your car to be well and truly looked at and looked after then you need to see Kaz.

I agree to a degree, and certainly wouldn't hesitate to take my car to Kaz nor recommend him to other owners.

However, it has been my experience with both my S2000 & NSX that by writing to Honda and stating that I am a long term Honda owner & that my cars are always serviced by a Honda service dept. on schedule, that I have received generous 'goodwill' repairs from Honda out of warranty (new roof supplied & fitted on S2000, bonnet / light covers resprayed on Y1). How important my history with Honda was in them making these decisions in my favour I don't know, but it cant have done any harm.

I'm also Essex based and uptil now have always used Norton Way in letchworth for 2 reasons. Firstly my NSX has almost all its service history with them for the past 10 years, and secondly, Brian the service manager has been associated with the NSX since its launch in the UK.

However, starting next week I will be taking my NSX to Kaz for its annual service. I have had some work completed by Kaz already and the quality of workmanship, combined with his passion and knowledge make this the right decision for me.

My view is that there are so few Honda technicians left with real NSX knowledge that they will simply be going through the motions when servicing the NSX, just as they would with any other Honda. With the performance that the NSX offers, I wish to be comfortable in theknowledge that the work has been correctly completed and that his expert eyes have given the NSX a good check supported by a detailed report on work that may need to be done to maintain its mechanical integrity.

I beleive this to be a view now shared by many owners, but at the end of the day its your NSX and your choice.

HTH, regards Paul

paul, this pretty much wraps it up. I would have preferred to say this in my 'Honda' statement. dont get me wrong i think it helps being associated with a dealer for some considerable time. Unfortunately for us punters over here in NI a lot of our 1st Honda dealers are no longer in business and over the past few years the Honda dealerships have changed hands so often that all the knowledgable staff have dispersed bar one. Honda is now a franchise of a big car owner here, whom I know the family through my dad as he was one of their first ever customers back in the day when they 1st started out and bought his cars of them for many years. but the group has grown massively now and that personal touch is gone and there in no rapport anymore ... your just another number and i feel my NSX would just get treated the same way like any other model. so in a way those bringing their NSX's to the same d'ship is fabulous and you are VERY lucky to have this, but that just does not happen here much anymore, especially Honda franchises. this is why i feel an independent/specialist who knows specialist cars would be the better alternative (for me). tbh i would be extremely lost regarding the NSX over here, if not for Sudesh. Dont think i would have ever dipped my feet in NSX ownership without his knowledge and expertise ... there is no way i would get this advice from the Honda franchise over here now ... not a chance.

Judging by the posts on this topic, its a no brainer for you ... bring it to Kaz! ;)

I guess I am fortunate in that the dealership I use is still family owned & run - Geo Collins Honda, Herstmonceaux - the service dept. is manages be Peter Collins. They do care about their customers, and they do appreciate the NSX is special & have gone significantly out of their way to assist me over time.

I fully appreciate that not everyone is fortunate enough to have a dealership run on this basis within a sensible distance from them (Geo Collins is ~40 miles from my home, there are 4 dealerships closer to me)

you are very lucky and i understand why you still bring your NSX to there. Dont think i would do anything different if i was in your position

I understand that Plans are a bit of a trek for you but they really do know their NSX's. I've used them since buying my NSX 4 years ago, including to recommission it when I first bought it and have had great service.

i live in norfolk. plans are about 170 mile which isnt the end of the world.

Is Kaz - Plans motorsport or is he someone else?

Amo, Can you enlighten on TDI? I would be using the one in London, have you had a bad experiance? or heard of any?

I had a very bad experiance with Thor Racing which left me thousands of pounds out of pocket and the loss of my 300zx.

There are so many bad stories about garages you can't be sure who to trust and this is only basic maintanance. With tuning then you have to be extra careful.

No Kaz is Kaz and is VERY VERY VERY good one man operation who works from his house (I think Buckinghamshire), and Plans motorsport is an independat garage based in a unit at Dusfold near Guildford.

I only know of TDI next door to Ikea at Lakeside (Thurrock) Esssex not one in London. Is this the one you mean?

Oh right, Bucks? that's even closer to me. Is his username Kaz on here?

is he able to stamp a service book?

I stand do be corrected but i believe TDI are based in London as you said lakeside, also they have a unit up north and one in europe. They currently have the largest net worth of all the tuning garages in the UK.

Kaz's username is Kaz-kzukNA1

I can't see why not, but you will need to ask him.
