Honda OE parts prices rising?!

I already had the feeling that OE carparts prices have been rising quite a lot over the past 3-4 years, a lot more than consumer product prices, Honda seemingly one of the big risers.

Yesterday I had clear confirmation on this with a new part I ordered:
wiper inserts
Incl the discount I arranged with the dealership (I think 15%)
09/2006 these were 6,87 Euro ex. vat a piece
Honda changed the partnumber and now 07/2010 these are 12,91 Euro ex vat a piece

Rediculous price raise percentage wise I think...

For NSX parts prices in Europe there was a big step up by the end of 2005. I'm not aware of similar jumps since then. Well, the citron looks pressed out not. :eek: The US part prices go up in May every year but only by 2-3%. They never had a jump of +50% in the past.
The wiper inserts are not a SL0 part as you can use them on every Honda with the same wiper style. In this case I'm glad Honda sells the wiper inserts only. Other brands only sell the whole wipers for EUR 30+.

You can buy the whole wiper here for £9.16 +vat, I bought a couple of them a few months back, drivers side even came with the spoiler!

well keep in mind the Yen exchange rate has rocketed last year.

Honda will normally review all of the parts price around Spring time and make big change around that period. Then, in Autumn, another review with small price changes are carried out. For any SL0 parts, due to the small numbers compared to other models, the price will go up inevitably...
