Have no idea what the, "130 series final model" means? But the add also says it's a "Custom-made cars full normal Furubakerekaro****o] - ultra-light roof"

there's something funny going on with that roof (and front lip spoiler)... I'm not sure I've seen a white R with a white roof before!

Do anybody know how many NA1 NSX-R were made?

About 464.

Some folk say......(no this isn't a Stig strap line) that the Pop-up NSX looks a bit dated and obviously is being a 90's car but this NSX-R looks positively 80's to me. Personally I don't like all the colour coding as it needs a contasting exterior colour...might work in Miami.....

The Kaz might be the only one who could tell us what these 100 series designations mean.
I've seen him use them before and am wondering myself.
I'm thinking they're subtle upgrades to quality and refinement of possible failure parts and their upgrades.
Is there a list by year and "model' that lists them, (the series numbers and their changes) such the ABS evolutions, etc...?

Cheers

Hate the exterior, but the interior is gorgeous!

They're the region & model (mark) codes; my S2000's a 130-series and the NSX is a 140-series. The digit thereafter is a check digit, or letter. I think it refers to the actual date of build, since my Prelude is a X, the NSX (and Civic) a Y and the S2000 is a 1.

LOVE THE INTERIOR ... AMAZING!

Not liking the external shots at all, not fussed on the all white combo or the wheels ... they look dated

For the clarification, the VIN number such as 130, 140, etc used on JDM models are different from those you can find in non-JDM VIN. There is no check digit/letter/etc in JDM VIN including other JDM Honda models.

The VIN system on JDM (all Honda models) is quite different from non-JDM ones so without having all of the available workshop manuals or JDM parts list, it is quite difficult to remember all of the series number against model type, year model, modifications and so on.
Also, we use different concept for Year models.

Even just for our NSX, over the years, there were nearly 200 modifications listed in the workshop manuals and unfortunately, I won’t have time to translate all of them into English.

Just to give you an idea on the amount of changes.

I have 12 workshop manuals (and still these don’t cover all of the models), parts lists in booklets and CDs, wiring diagram, concept info, NSX Press, Video, DVD, etc and these are only just a part of all the documents/medium that Honda released over the years for our NSX.

For your reference, followings are most of the model info on the JDM NSX but not covering all of them.
Also, for security reason, I won’t show the full format of the JDM VIN.

Model ------ Type ------ VIN
Sep/90 ----- E-NA1 ----- 100
Nov/92 ----- E-NA1 ----- 110
Feb/93 ----- E-NA1 ----- 110
Feb/94 ----- E-NA1 ----- 120
Mar/95 ----- E-NA1 ----- 130
Feb/97 ----- E-NA1 ----- 140
------------ E-NA2 ----- 100
Sep/99 ---- GH-NA1 ---- 150
------------ GH-NA2 ---- 110
Dec/01 ---- LA-NA1 ---- 170
------------ LA-NA2 ---- 130
May/02 ---- LA-NA2 ---- 140
Nov/02 ---- LA-NA1 ---- 180
------------ LA-NA2 ---- 140
Oct/03 ---- LA-NA1 ---- 190
------------ LA-NA2 ---- 150
Mar/04 ---- ABA-NA1 --- 195
----------- ABA-NA2 --- 155
Jul/04 ----- ABA-NA1 --- 200
------------ ABA-NA2 --- 200

On 20th Sep., 1995, Honda stopped taking orders for the NA1 Type-R.

This is why the ad for the used NA1 Type-R in the #1 post was described as "130 series final model". That car was Mar/95 model which was 130 series.

Kaz

Once again Kaz comes up with the most awesome answers for us.
Thanks Kaz for the clarification.

good stuff!

Just to be clear - does that mean even the later cars had small tweaks we do not know about?

If July 04 was the last release of NA2 cars then what changed between 2002 and 2004? If it's a lot of translating to tell us please could you give us a taster!?

Thanks,

Luke

There were changes to gearboxes at least once in the 02+ cars IIRC.

Apologies for the re-post ... when looking at the photo's with all the protective wrapping, I thought then that it looked like it may have been through thr programme ... but the penny didn't drop!

A great looking NSX.
