I have recently bought a 2004 NSX but don't want to take it to my local dealer if they have never seen one before.

It is my Holy Grail ...... I am located in Herefordshire, which isn't that close to anywhere !
I would like to keep it with a full Honda history unless that becomes too expensive or too impractical.

By all accounts Kaz is exceptionally good. However, I enquired about some work recently to be told there's a waiting list til November - fine for 'elective' work but less so if anything urgent needs doing

I'm in Bristol and the main dealer purports to have specialist NSX experience I'd be interested in others' experiences of using them

The previous owner of my car had 2 services at Bristol Honda (Brislington) and the o2 sensors replaced at Arriva Honda (Bristol).

Obviously I'm unable to comment on the quality of the work but at least these guys are willing and able to work on NSXes as not all Honda dealers are.

I know from when I bought a new NSX in 2002 that there used to be 7 or so 'official' NSX centres in the UK.
Does anyone know who they were ??

Hi Richy,

If you want FHSH, the only one I know of is Norton Way in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. Speak to Brian the service manager who has NSX history all the way back to 1991

Hopefully a couple of the Wet country owners will chip in with more local experience.

Very cool - congrats on the purchase! Hopefully you'll bring it out and about as it would be great to have it along to the meets and big NSX events :)

Personally I would only take it to Norton Way or Kaz. I'm not speaking for Kaz, but given the car I'm sure he would be thrilled to be working on it!

I did buy the NSX-R that 'Marky' went to see...... as I wasn't looking for a daily driver, the tautness of the ride and no power steering was not an issue.

I can get a Honda 3 year warranty to cover mechanical and electrical issues for £900. Which sounds like good value to me, but it does tie me to having it dealer serviced for that period.
Hence my hunt for the best NSX dealer to do this with.

If you are now the owner of N5 XRR then I'm 95% sure that it's always been looked after by Chiswick Honda, so you could carry on taking it there to be serviced.

If it was me I would let Chiswick Honda service it evrey year and pay the £900 for the warranty, but I would also let Kaz give it the once over to make sure Chiswick Honda have done there job properly.

Congratulations and I look forward to meeting you and seeing the NSX-R again, its been a while since I looked it over.

Kaz can be contacted via pm or through his Health Check thread.

Norton Way & Chiswick are the same dealer group. It was at Chiswick that I last saw your NSX-R.

You asked elsewhere for the spoiler decals. For the OEM parts, Chiswick should be able to obtain these, or if you do contact Kaz, he will be able to order direct form Japan.

For the money I would consider the Honda warranty, but would look to have the Health Check completed by Kaz to appreciate the value you could really get from it ;).

The NSX-R is a specialist car and IMO deserves specialist treatment which is why so many owners referring you to Kaz.

The key difference is that whereas N/Way & Chiswick will tick the check list of service items, they will also treat your NSX-R as if it where a Civic. It will have little or no significance to them with the exception that the tech's in the workshop will probably take a few photo's on their phones to send to their mates.

Kaz will treat your car as he does all NSX. With tlc and attention to detail you just will not get from a main stream dealership, that has overheads to be covered by moving metal through the workshop as quickly as possible. Dissapointingly when I had my service with Kaz earlier this year, it was clear to see that despite a full 10 yr history with N/Way, they hadn't the time to persist with a tight oil filter .... for the past 2 years! Kaz did and I'm now running with a new one, not one that has simply been cleaned to look as though its been replaced.

I'm confident your car will have been over serviced in its early years, but the past 4 or 5 may have seen less attention. The health check will certainly confirm or deny this and provide you with the best possible report available outside Japan.

Whatever you do decide, please do try to join us around the country from time to time, not just for shows but also for some of the small driving meets if you would like to show us all just how much better the NSX-R really is ... and one final ask if I may. Could you please join us at TDi one day for a rolling road event?

It is the car that is top of my 'most favourite cars of all time' list.
I have had quite a few exotics but NSX's in general have that combination of looks, rarity and the right amount of power.
IMO too many cars today have too much power and not enough feel and poise.

Piloting an Audi R8 at huge speeds takes little skill but lots of electronics.

Take it to Brian at Norton Way. I wouldn't let Chiswick near it. Warranty sounds good. Can get Kaz to give it a once over too to check everything that Honda might miss. I'm sure he'll fit in a R.

I thought about changing the steering wheel and headlight surrounds, but the car is unique by being the only fully UK type approved NSX-R and all these differences are what Honda UK did as part of the type approval process and at huge expense.
Funny one, I noticed that the speedo reads upto 300 Mph !! Watch out Veyron :-)
Honda had the JDM speedo recalibrated from Kmh to Mph as there is no Mph NSX-R speedo available. I have a list of all the changes they made.

So whilst it looks slightly different in a few small areas, that is part of the cars history I guess and helps to tell its story.

Would you change it back to JDM spec or leave it ??????

I have to admit to liking both the JDM steering wheel and white headlight surrounds, but I am torn between personalising the car to my tastes and leaving it as UK spec.

Your speedo was most likely the JDM 300KMH version which I have seen on a few NSX's. Honda UK most likely added a KMH to MPH converter and put a sticker over the KMH, hence why it looks like 300MPH.

You can revert back to a 180mph speedo quite easily though.

On your car I would go with OEM NA2 NSX-R steering wheel, Horn Button, Trim Ring and NSX-R HUB/Boss.

Light's wouldnt bother me too much, but if being a purist then the white background NSX-R lights is the way to go.

Can I ask did honda uk add anything else?

Do you have cruise control?
Head light adjust?
Have you UK rear tail lights and OEM UK fog light setup and button?

I'm with you, do you personalise? Or keep it as Honda UK sold it?

The one thing I would add about the steering wheel is you would have to tell your insurance company as it would no longer have an airbag.
