Hi All
I will be writing a buying guide on the NSX for Classic & Sports Car in the next few weeks and need to locate a suitable example to photograph for the article - any volunteers?
The car should be pre-1997, unmodified (or not too obtrusive mods), in good condition and a bright colour (but not white).
Ideal area would be within a 40-mile radius of Oxford - we will come to you, spend c3 hours photographing the car (and a shot of the owner) and Classic & Sports Car will refund your petrol costs and send you a set of photos and a couple of copies of the mag. I will need to have a short drive in your car but nothing silly, just to write driving impressions (and fully insured of course).
Timing is a bit tight because at this time of year, the magazine deadlines get pulled forward (because printers take two weeks off over Christmas/New Year). Ideally we'd like to do this next week (Nov 1/2/3 are currently free in the photographer's diary) or early the following week. It does need to be done on a weekday.
It would also be a huge help if members could point me in the direction of the best people to talk to for buying advice, good specialists and parts suppliers (and who to avoid).
Thanks all - I'm looking forward to this one!

Wow, terrific response, thanks - photo car lined up in under two hours, that's almost a record...!
Please keep bombarding me with buying info though - I don't mind admitting I'm starting from a position of near-zero knowledge (but much admiration) on the NSX...
Cheers

Hi Malcolm, how many words will the article be?

There have been a lot of short NSX buying guides over the last year or so. Keith Adams article "The Great Pretender" in Octane (July 2009) is probably the best so far. Keith used Honda UKs museum car, an early automatic, to drive and photograph. Try to drive a manual and an auto to get a flavour for the difference.

I'm sure you're aware that the very first customer cars were delivered in October 1990 making right now the proper 20th anniversary of the NSX :)

Cheers

Mark

I have a silver 96 targa with red interior in Milton Keynes. Only non-standard thing is dark grey alloys. It is much more of a grand-tourer than the hardtop...softer spring rates. PAS of course because it is a 96. Manual 5 speed. Robert

There's plenty of knowledgable peeps here, but one particular "expert" who would give you a special insight! I'll let him step forward if he's inclined!

Oh if it helps I have a fairly standard early (ex McLaren) 91 manual red / black, am located other side of Bedford if you need a pair!

If your arranged car falls-through for any reason, let me know - '96 in yellow, only visible mod is a replica Type-R spoiler (if that's not too much). Based in Stratford-upon-Avon, should be able to find a decent location for the shoot near here.

One downside - cracked rear bumper after a young lad drove into me at traffic lights a couple of weeks back. But unless you want a shot of the rear it's not noticeable.

Buying advice - I bought mine just over a year ago and the best advice was from a few of the threads on here. Worth taking an hour out and doing a search, if you haven't already. And I agree with Mark - there's one real expert, but also at least one other very knowledgable person on here - I think most owners on here would trust either with their vehicle.

The best advice I can give is to come on here! All the info is here you just need to look or if your not IT savy just ask as someone will always help or point you in the right direction.
