View Full Version : NSX-R Gear Lever & Knob

Ok, so some have asked in the past and by PM/Email about the NSX-R setup. As far as I'm aware this is only on NA1 NSX-R, NA2 is slightly different. But the Master could confirm better.

The gear lever is complete different in that it has female threads and is much shorter than standard NSX and even Type-S. The gear knob is also very VERY tiny. It is similar in look to the Type-S but if you see them side by side, there is a HUGE difference in size and I guess also in weight.

Its feels even smaller when in the car lol you can take a test run when you call up.

Very interesting Sudesh. So this a comparison with the standard NA1, right, or with the type S? It's interesting how different the mounting points are at the front, they're almost like a mirror image of each other. Any problems fitting?

Can't believe the height difference, it validates my hatred of the high "cylinder" stock shift. Would love to see a photo of this once in situ and still ungatered, just to get a feel for it vs console level. :think:

I ran a previous generation Civic Type R (the 'breadvan' look variant) for a while, and if it is of any help. the NA1 NSX-R's shift feel & action is effectively the same, i.e. like a switch

The comparison is between standard NSX however, I believe Type-S is the same as standard NSX too.

Not sure what you mean by the mounting points? The only difference is the actual lever itself as in the first pic, the rest is the identical. I'll take some pics to show what it looks like in my car fitted.

Standard looks from the pic to have a "cut-out" from front left of baseplate; r looks to have same, but at at front right of baseplate. Could be the angle though, overhead perhaps they're identical....

The base's are not NSX or NSX-R specific, its just the lever and knob.

Looks OK, but would be better if it was a bit longer and had a leather cover.. :D

remember its NSX parts ... and in this case Type R bits n bobs!

think the gear change knob alone is around 400 quid or more from HUK ... if not its something ridiculous anyways

it is a lovely addition mind you (aside from potential costs) and you would be amazed at how low slung the shifter is and the knob is so small in your hand too, making the gear change feel even sweeter!

SOS one is based on the Type-S, so much larger and sits higher. Type-S is also nice though.

Just looked on the SOS site and the gearnob I have isn't listed anymore. I measured it against a standard car and it was quite a bit lower. I may need counselling.
