Is there anybody in the UK who can replicate this?...I be willing to pay! ;)

I ordered directly from Hugo in Portugal, and got the kit in under a week.

You can reach him at trestonica@netcabo.pt

It will be alot easier than having someone in UK invent the wheel all over again. Removing the mechanism for measurements, fabrication and/or sourcing parts would take more time and money than just ordering a set.

SS, perhaps we could get a NSXCB group order together, I would like to have a pair of the window kits.

I agree..a group buy would be a good idea...Let's see who else is interested.

I bought the kit also last year and have it fitted on my car.

Can you tel me what the kit you received consist of and what it involves to replace the mechanism once you have the kit delivered.

or just send me to the link of your post. :D

Kare, not able to view it myself at work here at the moment but if you look at your link from Prime, Hugabuga has uploaded a youtube video showing the kit and assembly process....

Looked at this last night, appears to be a very well thought out fix, I had my drivers side regulator fail a couple of years ago and having replaced this myself I do think that there is room for improvement.

Thank you for highlighting this and please put me down for 2 kits if you do go ahead with a group buy,

Thanks,

Ian

I missed Sudesh originally posting this mod up too, but found the thread on Prime... so I made my own version as i had a pair of bearings, I was bored and because i can! It is a vast improvement, and well worth doing. it definately reduces the loads on the cable

Hugabuga's price is pretty good, especially as I couldn't find a source for the roller wheels in this country!

However... if there is a group buy starting you can put me down for a set of his Teflon window guides

Silver Surfer

I have PM'd Hugabuga to see whether he can accept a group buy to ship to the UK.

Hi UK members, this is me, same Hugabuga as on Prime ;)
If you are at least 10 members, I can make that "Group Buy" discount.

Thank you all for the interest

I am sure doing the fix here in the UK will benefit the members here with the experience...The kit is seems do'able with little experience bar taking the trim off.

I have received a PM from Hugo who is also a member here...awaiting plan.

hi Paul ,

i didnt buy the warranty , and whilst both mine work , they are a little slow , the passenger one in particular , as my car is a keeper i am building my own little parts supply for the future , previous owners have been kind enough to do 15 years research for me and then let me know what i can expect to fail as time goes by .

Plus , just because something is avaliable today does not mean it will be in the future or at least when you NEED it , thats my take on it , but then i have always been a get it while you can type of guy .

The window kit is now composed by 3 differente parts: the sleeve to rebuild the worn plastic axle inside the regulator motor, the pulley to reduce friction from the cable, and now the Teflon parts to reduce the friction from the guides.

Guy, I dont want to put a damper on this as its great to see so many taking the plung on buying the upgrade, and it is a nice upgrade.

However I dont class it as a simple DIY, I myself found a couple of bits difficult on the the actual winding up of the line but Huga was great with back up service and email replays.

But also please remember you have allot of stripping down to do, obviously the door car, handle, and disconnecting wiring, speaker and so on. I would make note of the handle settings before removing the cables. Then you need to tackle removing the weather shield, if its in poor condition, then a good chance it will rip and fall apart in places as you need to carefully remove it. You also need to remove your window switch in order to use it to move the window up and down to get to the regulator bolts and once that is all done, you have to make sure you mask the window up securely so it doesn't fall in.

I would also mark the exact location of the regulator bolts by taking a felt pen and going round the outer edge of the bolts. As your in that far there is no point in not cleaning down and re-greasing all the runners/guides for the windows, as this makes a huge difference to the window speed/movement, its also a good time to check the window is within the OEM spec line up.

For those that have the old style regulator with the plastic "thingie" that breaks, this is also the time to upgrade to the Dali metal version, otherwise I thinks the upgrade is not worth doing.

After all that, you then do the upgrade and grease the new regulator and its time to install! Thats also fun lol

this video with the "8" year old :-S doing it ! Now I know how truly incompetant I am

didnt realise you needed a Pillar Drill and various clamps - ok making a tool list now :-S

Hi Sorepaws,

I have now have more info from Hugabuga...he states that you do not need a piller drill.......he now just use a cordless drill and do it at the NSX mini meets for his clients.
He is sending me a video of this.

Once I have collated the step by step procedures..I will let all concerned know.

SS

I rebuilt my window winders with his kit a couple of months back.
The advantage of a pillar drill and drill vice and his suggestion to over-bore it in incremental stages is that the hole you are over-boring remains true to the original axis.
The clamp has two separate functions; to press the replacement bearing sleeve onto its shaft and to more importantly to hold the spring loaded spool during reassembly.
Hugo's instructions and his u-tube video are pretty comprehensive.
For a how to do it on removing the door cards see one of the links to removing the bose amps in the doors,
see http://nsxe-repair.com/DS-removal.html
The advantage of an 8 year old is that they have small hands and can more easily be fitted into the door!
Have fun

I will arrange a thread on Group Installation.
We will all learn together .... It will be easier to use the window switch from the 1st car to help the installation for the subsequent cars....this will mean taking the switch for 1 car only..

Next question is there a detailed - and I mean DETAILED set of pictures to do this. From Opening the Door - removing the door card etc .... ?
"Window Regulator for Dummies"

I am mechanically incompetant (those that know me can keep the rest of their thoughts to themselves *smile)

Mike

I brought a set from hugo last month and install it to my car, I can show you how to fix these to your car if you coming to japfeast on saturday I will be there, it will take 30 minute to do 1 door.

Guys,
You can watch the small drilling movie here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7nwTPVPpXE

Hugo did not have any spare upper reel left to drill, he only had a lower one but you should use the exact same method to drill it: just hold it with a vice grip in one hand, and drill it straight to the 31/64" bit with a cordless driller in the other hand, just make sure to stay perpendicular and you're done!

"OLDMNSX" at Prime has just posted a thread for another regulator fix using the same thoughts.
Replacing the pulleys with aviation grade phenolic cable pulleys that have small bearings (P/Ns given in post) that i'll be doing as soon as I get my car back from winter storage.
