Retro - Vintage Honda

[Sudesh]

Well selling my very rare and beautiful ATC, these are extremely hard to find and even more difficult in this condition; its a 1985 125M, hard to believe its 26years old! It's only done around 15/20hrs from new.

As a young lad I used to ride one of these on a friend's farm, in fact I think it was the 185 model with front suspension. Used to be great fun but they have a tendancy to bite you if you pushed your luck I seem to recall!

Sudesh have you contacted Honda to see if they are interested in it? It would be a shame to see it used as intended especially as it is immaculate.

Hi Pete,

Yeah it brings back memories for quite a few when they see it, most comment on how small and cute it looks as they are used to big brute ATV's now, I have a Honda TRX 680 Farm Bike and you could almost set this on the back racks lol

The 185s had front suspension and think most of the models after that had, like the 200 Big Red 250 and so on; but as you mentioned, they can bite back if you dont know what your doing. For me with any ATV/ATC it was never about going fast or spinning round etc, I just loved the freedom of getting on the bike and heading off through the fields/valleys/mountains etc exploring! I never raced or rallied any of the bikes as I'm just extremely fussy.

I havent contacted Honda, to be honest I didnt even think about that until you mentioned it! I was going to contact the Honda quad dealer thats not far from me to see if it might be something they would be interested in for the showroom. Agree thought, wouldnt want to see it go to a home where it gets abused as it really is a stunning example and just so rare now; infact after taking it outside today and looking at it, I'm becoming undecided about selling it, tomorrow I'm going to give it a full service.

I also have a Honda fatcat, 89 TRX 350 and 300 Bigred

I don't know how accurate this is but i was told some years ago that it's illegal to sell those things now because of the danger element to them.Anyone shed any light on this?

I seem to recall that was in the "Good Ole USA". I believe manufacturers not wanting to deal with law suits dropped all trike production globally and then turned their attention to Quads.

Yeah pretty much correct!

The trikes were not banned by law or goverment etc, what happened was the manufacturers of trikes [i.e Honda, Yamaha, etc] were getting sued that much that they decided to sign an agreement between themselves, to not produce any more ATC's for 10years.

That agreement ran out in the late 90's but by then quads had taken off in a big way, they never made ATC's again.

I sold that now, its quite rare and I didnt really use it, was more of a show piece.
