Hi Guys,

Was at Snetterton on Friday doing some testing. Car is much better now, with bumpsteer now gone it is much friendly. Still got teething problems with the gearbox actuator but its come along way. We were matching times of a Pro who was in it a few months ago, so clearly the changes have reaped major rewards.

Also sounds nice with some packing blown out of the exhaust, like an F-Car now!

Racing the car in the Britcar 'into the dusk' race in November, should be quite a dramatic event if you wrap up warm!

It has a completely different rack, column, the works really... not sure what a RWS is?

November sounds good....relatively local to me as well!

(RWS is generally rear wheel steer?)

That; it's designed to make the car more predictable & forgiving. Lowering puts the toe range out (toe link is suddenly too long) so it's often counter-productive. Others hate it anyway.

Are you talking about the geometry changes that it makes under braking to make it more stable? That was gone a long time ago!

Otherwise i am not very techy...lol, that is the team's job! :D

I think Nick's referring to the passive rear steer that Honda have fitted to almost all of their performance cars. Can't remember the mechanism, but it increases rear toe-in under compression. Clever idea, for those who know how to use it...

...unfortunately if you need to lift off the throttle mid-corner you may well find yourself with a sudden loss in outside-rear-wheel grip, with all the consequences that entails! A number of the S2000 guys have got rid of it for this reason.

That's the one; basically the toe arm arc conflicts with the lower link arc to cause it.

It's a feature of all multilinks and the Weissach axle, but for some reason is vilified by some in RWD Hondas. Although it makes the 'Teg & its cohorts among the best-handling FWD cars of all time.

Yeah, we're talking about the same thing. That is long gone. There is also something unusual in the front suspension that we have had to brace to stop it doing a similar thing.

Compliance pivots; they allow the wheels to move backwards on bumps without changing the geometry, reducing bump-thump & smoothing the ride. They do produce the slightly odd feeling that the car is falling over its own front wheels in extremis.

For road use I can't see the problem in modern cars
- In the dry they've got so much grip that if you're THAT close to the limit of grip AND need to lift off sharply, then you've really misjudged the corner or been stupid.
- In the wet the required weight-transfer alone would upset the grip, with or without the toe-change.
