I think the car needs lowering now because the combination of black roof and wheels has the effect of (to my eyes at least) making it look "on stilts"......I think the original wheels would look better...not criticising, just that the car to me looked good standard. Mine isn't standard either so each to their own...I'm sure folk will have their views on mine.....

Sorry not for me.It's your car and if that's what you like,go for it,but i never did like the black roof on the NSX and i only like a non-silver alloy if it has a polished lip.

Got used to the F16 roof now, but the rental Corsa wheels minus trims are too dark.

But I must agree with the consensus so far - the car looked fantastic in the colour scheme it left the factory with, rather less so now to my eyes.

Believe me in the flesh it now looks lower, the combination of the black tyres, wheels and inner wheel arches actually make the wheels look bigger and hide the 4inch plus gap above the rear wheel on the standard car.

I think you can get away with black Spoon SW388s on a white JDM-look EK9 Civic - just. But I think they look like a rental Audi A3 on steel winter rims...

Maybe I'm being harsh & the black looks better in the metal, but I think solaris silver was dead cool on Tegs and NSXs. Lotus does an anthracite that works because of the metallicness.

In the interests of fairness, I should declare that I have bronze Mugen GPs on my S2000, BTW!

I would have gone for a lighter wheel colour, maybe one of the 'polished' gunmetal finishes to keep it a bit brighter. What colour are you painting the calipers? IOP maybe?

Enjoy yourself and its al reversible if the need arises ...

I would have gone with the gun metal option, although I do like and certainly want to like the black wheel look.
It's frustrating that what you like, isn't always what looks good. And, what looks good and what feels good are seldom the same. But that's a comment more about sex really, and a film quote. Anyone?
Anyway, Porsche cars seem to suit black wheels very well. I think the curviness helps. not so sure about other brands, especially Ferrari oddly.

What colour are you painting the calipers? IOP maybe?

Still undecided on the calipers - either IOP or BB to match the wheels - undecided as still not decided on what to do with the centre 'H' on the wheel and the 'NSX" on the caliper?

Black wheel/black caliper + silver H & NSX
Black wheel/IOP caliper + IOP H & Black NSX

Any pointer on caliper paint & laquer? especially if I go for IOP?

It definitely does, the photos below are rubbish of the wheels as I am no photographer and couldn't stop the flash from coming on when taking the pictures - other than them needing finishing off - centres need to be contrasting - most people who have seen them in the flesh prefer the new look

Nice upgrade with a great sound, although I noticed in the second picture that there seems to be an inner tube?

How are you finding the Yokohama tyres for grip and are they 245 in size (rear) ?

I know, the inner tube is not visible when you look at it but the camera has clearly picked it up - as all tail pipes are wider than the exhaust tubing I guess all have this?

The tyres are standard size, so yes 245's on the rear - grip is great in the dry & damp - only had one day of standing water on the roads since I put them on and is it was the day they were fitted I was taking it very easy!

I was out with the Kent car club on Sunday ... these tyres are great in the dry, OK in the damp providing its WARM, if however its cold and misty as it was @ 6.30am, treat them as though its wet and take care. Car felt twitchy and they do not like standing water at all. FYI I'm runnung with 255 rears, stock fronts.

Car felt twitchy and they do not like standing water at all. FYI I'm runnung with 255 rears, stock fronts.l

Thanks for the tip, the GTR on Dunlops was the only car I ever felt comfortable thrashing in the wet, any advantage of running with 255 rears?

Hi Pete,

I opted for the 255 as I had previously been running the RE070 NSX-R tyre which is this size ... plus the tyre shop didn't charge a premium for the 255 over the 245 so I stayed with the sizes I was running.

Does it make a difference? I'm sure a better driver than I could tell the difference, but for me its what I'm used too.

For reference, comared the RE070 the Yoko's have a far wider operating window, the RE really do only like dry surfaces and the hotter the better!

Never been a fan of Bridgestones, I put RE070's on as replacements on the GTR as they were much cheaper (£300 each) than the OEM Dunlops (£550 each) but they were no comparison - also got RE050's on my Type R GT and they're not great on a fwd car.

I'm not particularly hard on tyres so will be interested to see what I get from the Yoko's. I ran the Goodyear F1's and at 19k miles the rears were semi slick :D but the fronts still had an even 3mm of tread. If I get half this with the Yoko's I reckon its still good mileage ...

As Simon points out I'm running on 02 rims so hence the 255's

That reminds me, Bridgestones, I've got 2 nearly new (<1k) front tyres - Bridgestone RE040 215/45/16 - if anyones running 50's or 70's on the rear

I really cannot see the point of going to 255 with the little 16" cotton reels at the front.

It's really difficult to get breakaway with the impressive Advans in the dry and it's nicely (perfectly) balanced in the wet.

I'd rather widen the rim for better sidewall rigidity than widen the tyre, which tends to result in a soggier feel.

I think that's one reason I prefer the feel of the cotton reels to the facelift.

For reference, the S-02s on the S2000 were so allergic to being cold & wet, the Advans seem familiar to me!
