Always assuming that the changes have been reported correctly, it would appear that a degree of inventiveness may be necessary [by some] in respect of:
1) HID lamps, [washers as OEM but no auto self levelling] = fail
2) Type R/Momo steering wheels [without airbags] = fail
3) Test pipes = fail
4) Presence & correct function of steering lock [RAC requirement to be disabled for competition use] = fail
5) Fixed [non fore/aft adjustment] to drivers seat = fail
No doubt the story will become worse with repeated telling.

Was the MOMO wheel available as an option on the NSX, or could this be argued (blagged)?

if it's an imported JDM model with factory HID but without washers/cleaners or auto-leveling then what?
oh and I always thought having no cat convertor was always deemed a fail. This only seems to be the case now.

I believe you can 'get away' with no cat on '91 or earlier cars even if fitted as standard.

All the above does seem to be correct
HIDs - Section 1.7
Air bags/steering wheels - Section 5.4
Cats if OEM must be fitted - Section 7.1
Steering lock - Section 2.1 [Sept 2001 cars onward only]
Divers seat to be adjustable - Section 6.2
Well that's saved money by not purchasing a Type R steering wheel and Recaro Pole Positions.

I'm not sure if I've read it right regarding the seats. Why do you think Pole Positions would fail? Mine are on adjustable base rails and can be secured in all positions. Obviously the back of the seat does not tilt, is this where you think it will fail? Cars with fixed base brackets may possibly fail under these guidelines?

I'd be very surprised if the test pipes on a 1991 would be failed, cats were optional at that time. I have a friend that mot tests and my test is up in January so ill report in how I get on :)

For HIDs, nowhere does it say headlamp washing or levelling devices (auto or manual) are mandatory. Just says they must work where fitted.
Also the check refers to "any headlamp levelling (device)" - does not specify auto or manual adjustment.

The thing about the fixed bucket seat...ouch.

It means the fixed seat rail I've just made won't be. I don't really see why I need to make the car more suitable for thieves to drive! Also for MOT testers etc I can just move and retightening the position if required.
At least my passenger fixed rails will be ok.

The issue around HID's may be more to do with the pattern of light created by the "bulb" as the point of illumination may not be in the same place for the lens and reflector designed for a standard "bulb"

As my seat "can be adjusted forwards and backwards and secured" by the means of allen key bolts - In the eyes of the law it complies with that sentence. Unless theres some coverall sentence somewhere else in the document like "no tools should be required for normal operation of the car" :D
I can't see it being a real problem. For me anyway. ;)

Now my head hurts!
The NSX's manual levelling works, but those on the Prelude & Civic (eBay projector rice lights) aren't connected.
But so long as they're tungsten halo blubs, it doesn't matter...
And it's not AUTO-self levelling, so it doesn't matter.
There are a lot od S2000 owners who've filled & painted over the washer holes for vanity reasons who are gonna regret it!
They're just xenonists/LEDists.

Passenger side is done. Drivers side requires the slotting of the side mount holes, drilling holes for the seat belt receiver and making up angled hollow cylinder shape spacers for the seat belt receiver & bolt (to change the angle of the seat belt receiver without requiring to bend it). Then some general chopping away of excess metal and tidying.

LOL, when I had fixed seats, I used to drive the car through the MOT test, and do the brake tests myself!!

The facelift NSX comes with HID in Japan and the States,but due to our laws on HID's,they are not fitted on UK models,so i'm guessing pre facelift import cars with HID's could well fail.

Indeed, being a JDM Type S my car also has has factory HID headlamps and I believe any 1998-2001 JDM Targa would as well. The projector lenses (made by Stanley) are designed specifically for an HID source so the beam pattern will be fine but the lack of a leveling or washing system may see it fail the MOT in the future.

Surely the movement of the seats is relevant for 4 seaters? What possible reason could there be for failing a fixed seat on a mid engined 2 seater?
(surely not another revenue generator aimed the motorist?)

IIRC most Caterhams have fixed seats, and how many of them are there?
