Well, I pick up my NSX in just over a week; a Dark green '96 manual.

It's been a car I have wanted for a very long time, and after owning alot of *** cars (due to running a *** car club for a while now) this is really the ultimate for me.

Although I have owned a Skyline, Evo VI, STi 8 with Prodrive upgrade, 'Teg R, 300zx TT and an Escort Cosworth among 4 other Hondas, when I finally drove an NSX it was truly in another league.

Whilst it wasn't as fast in a straight line as some of my previous cars, it was much much better at everything else.

I have Performance Car magazine from 1995 when a certain green NSX won performance car of the year for the second time. I remember at the time thinking could it really be that good? now I know what they were talking about.

I Have watched this forum for quite a while now and look forward to chatting and meeting some of you at the shows and meets this season (I will be at pretty much all of them).

Regards

Keith

ps. This is it sat in the Honda dealer from where I'm buying it!

Hi keith,

congratulations on buying an NSX.
I've been attending quite a few *** car meetings lately and most of the guys drive the cars you've mentioned.
Just out of interest, where are you based and have you ever attended any of the Bristol or Exeter meetings?

Cheers,

James.

I was in the Air Cadets - is this sufficient qualification for a Runway NSX sprint ?

How about permission to re-create the Top Gear race versus a Jaguar.....? I pay enough taxes to pay for that surely !!?

Hey Flinty, who needs an excuse, I just want to run my car up and down the runway for the hell of it, racing a jet could be a laugh though!

Dunno about a runway race; not an NSX thing is it? no corners and all that.

You up at Lossie/Kinloss/Leuchars? Sure I will end up there at some point. Have about a year left here then who knows where?

No, I'm over in Aldergrove at the mo, got about a year and a half then of to god knows where. I've been lucky though always got mt first choice everytime.
True no corners but it would be nice to see what the real top end speed would be.

Bruntingthorpe is about the best place for that, 2 miles, not sure if there are many runways that long (civillian or otherwise), this is sometimes available at a track day there. But wouldn't mind a blast at Coltishall or ANother runway.

I don't really like the area here (in the middle of nowhere) but I'm now glad I only stay in jobs for 18 months to 2 years max.......although I really want Coningsby next (still in the back of beyond but great aircraft).

Can't make the meet at the end of Jan but hope to see a few of you about this season.

Will take a few pics of the NSX when it finally arrives.

I can't take my NSX with me on postings, some inconsiderate Wafoos park a helicopter in the only garage onboard. I have had words, but they never see my point of view :(

Coningsby was my first posting, yeah your right it is in the middle of nowhere, but it was probably the best unit I've been to............ I don't fancy racing a Typhoon, I reckon it would win.

lol...A Typhoon would certainly beat an NSX, It beat an F1 car over a few hundred metres

Its one of the reasons I would like to get on them, I just need to talk nicely to my desk officer now

FWIW I am the photographer for an event called VMAX which is run at Bruntingthorpe, with speed traps etc. Best I've had out of my 3.0 V6 is 160mph, with a little left to come. Some serious fun to be had on the bends - big wide expanses allowing you to get to some interesting angles of attack through some of the corners  Let me know if you'd be interested in attending the next one - I'd love to see how a 3.2 6 speed would go.

I would like to try anywhere that has a nice long straight just to see what my car could do (legally for a change).

Getting the time off is the hard part but I would certainly be interested in someting like that.

VMAX is always a Sunday event, although for some folks that means giving up double time :D PM me if your definitely interested and I'll see if I can get you on the entrants list for the next event. Normally a pretty stunning entry list, last one was one of the less extravagent ones, but we still had the 200mph barrier broken.... some pics here:

Previously we've had all kinds of exotica along including:

Murcielago
DB9
GT3 RS
430
Challenge Stradale
Diablo

160mph in your 3.0ltr
I've had my baby sitting at 170mph (well that was the reading on the clock). I could feel plenty more pedal left in it. Road was running out and had to ease off.
Worked out with the long gearing you could get it to 190+ (on the clock - not sure how accurate they are)

I also had someone in the car with me. I've also read and been told (By Honda) the engines loosen up massively after 9 to 10k and mine only has 2.5k on it.

That was the once and only time I've ever tried to take her to the limit. (wish I could say the same for by other birds  )Well you have to don't you when you own one (the car that is) :P
The rest of the time she is sits in her heated carcoon and when she does venture out - it's only to show off her gorgeous body, looks and just poses. I don't mind her exposing her bits for people when they ask - she's a real flirt

I e-mailed Craig about it and he told me to keep and eye on the PH V-MAX forum. I am hoping to make it to one of the future ones. It will be interesting to see how mine with the GruppeM, Tubi and DF Scoop will perform compare to a stock one. Just wonder whether the DF NSX-R CF led wing will decrease top speed.

Any idea when the next one will be???

Hi All,

Well, I've gone and done it and collect my 03 Ascari red beast next week. I think I've got a good deal - difficult to know with prices of even the newer cars being all over the place. Now I'm pooping myself as to what some of my clients will say (I'm a freelance PR consultant)!! Had to be done though - its the car I have always promised myself.

Let me guess, the cat D on autotrader ?? If so worth the £10k under book but make sure you can see all the pre damage photo's if it is. Possibly not though as it looks like that one is in Ireland.

Congratulations anyway, if not then there are a few other Ascari's on there but thought this would be a good guess.

160mph was a radar verified speed on a limited length run, I for one think thats pretty decent for 3.0 car! Was indicating just under 165 on the clock BTW so fairly close to reality (+4mph at 160!!). I've had, er, over 170 *somethings* indicated in france but that was with much more room.

Hi AR,

PM me (if you haven't already) and I'll try to get you on list for the next one - normally sometime Feb/March. I too would be interested too see how much faster your's would be compared to mine (I only have a different back box, supposedly worth 10lb ft / 8 bhp). It'd be great to see another NSX there. Most of the fun of VMAX is in the corners  , and the social side of things anyway..... :)

Welcome Keith,
Your post reminded me of when I first got my car. Brought a smile to my face when I read it!
And I too like the tan interior, so much that I actually bought a complete tan interior for my red NSX.
I still haven’t had time to put it in though…
Peter
