Introduction Each of the NSX's active speakers contain an amplifier module. Similar to most of the Electronic Control Units (ECUs) in the car, the capacitors in these modules tend to fail by leaking electrolyte. Especially the first generation of amplifiers (they can be identified by at least one small green capacitor) are known to leak early (sometimes after less then ten years) and resulting in most NSX having their amplifiers replaced at least once. Modules with heavy leakage may ...

Introduction A number of sports cars from the 80s and 90s, were equipped with a BOSE audio system. A popular example, beside the NSX is the Corvette. These systems were specifically tuned to the vehicle to create the typical BOSE sound. Similar amplifiers are used in the Corvette C4. Details Three specifically tuned amplifiers make up the system. Each one build into the speaker enclosures in the left door, right door and the passenger foot well. Door amplifiers are having ...

Introduction Since its launch, the NSX was equipped with a driver's airbag. As of 1993 a passenger airbag and seat belt tensioners were added. The system is of rather simple design with the ECU containing an acceleration sensor that works together with two dash sensors and fires the airbag and seat tensioners upon front impact. ...

Introduction Broken-of plastics, especially mounting tabs on things like door cards (interior door cover), speaker mounting points and the defroster panel at the front window are to be expected considering the age of the NSX, especially after being overtightened. There are multiple ways to fix issues like these. ...

Introduction Beside ageing capacitors, the NSX's Radio Head Unit suffers from another well known issue in the world of cassette drives: Lengthened capstan drive belts. Typical life time of the belt is estimated to be around 20 years but might vary based on storage conditions and usage. Diagnostic First indications of a failing belt are functions related to reverse operation acting strangely. Typical observations are auto-reversing instead of rewinding when using skip track, ...
