KSP Engineering 6MT Reverse Lockout Solenoid Controller

Rate this Entry

One of the owner decided to go ahead with 6MT conversion and asked me for the easy solution on disabling the reverse gear while driving.

So, I offered him the link to the product from KSP Engineering in Japan and after his confirmation, I ordered it for him.

It just arrived at my place and I also prepared the English Installation Manual.

He added extra modifications to his 6MT box so hope he can now enjoy driving his NSX without worrying about selecting reverse while the car is still moving.

Enjoy...

Is this the same piece as the Comptech kit?

    Hi, etang789.

That will be the most difficult question to answer because I don’t know what ‘Comptech kit’ is….

As I have degree in Electronics Control, I can understand what this controller is doing.

The controller from KSP and also from other NSX specialists is pretty much the same product.

The box is very small and light.
You can easily hold in your palm.

It will use VSS signal as the input and once it reaches about 30kph or above, it will send the signal to the internal relay and activates the reverse lockout solenoid to prevent the driver from selecting the reverse.

On deceleration, if the VSS reaches about 25kph or below, it will send the signal to the internal relay and deactivates the reverse lockout solenoid allowing the driver to select the reverse gear.

Depending on the manufacture of the controller box, they will control the low or high side of the lockout solenoid so the logic is simply reversed by the software.

Unfortunately, no one at KSP will deal with any English emails so you need to find someone to assist you with Japanese or you can use international parts vendor.

I think one of the member here used a company called as ‘Touge’ to buy this controller from Japan and had it sent over to UK.

As it looks like you are based in Hong Kong, probably the delivery charge would be much cheaper than sending any parts from Japan to UK.

Hey Thanks for the detail explanation ! I didnt see it until now.

Comptech is just another brand from US which no longer sell this product, Im guessing they might of just resell this kit and called it their own back then.
