Started to work on another NSX from this week.

The service menu is to carry out Health Check combined with the annual service and refresh the brake system.

Some notes from the test driving session before removing anything.

  • Very heavy CL pedal but without any slip on hard acceleration.
As it's a single disc type, hard to predict but considering the mileage and information from other single disc CL owners, not surprised if the friction disc is worn to certain level.
Just keep monitoring and once it shows the sign of slip, time to start shopping for the CL parts or act earlier for the preventative measure.
  • Even without starting the engine and the A/C CCU completely switched off, both R&L A/C condenser fans started operating when the IG SW was turned into ON/P2 position.
Once the Eng was started, sometimes the fans stopped immediately but on other occasions, they stayed running for a few minutes so it was like operating in mind of their own.
The radiator fan stayed Off under this condition so doesn't look like the FCU (Fan Control Unit) soldering crack issue (normally, even the rad fan will start spinning together with the condenser fans if FCU is faulty) but can't deny the possibility.
I haven't serviced the CCU on this NSX yet so that's another possibility.
If I have the time, will open the rear upper trim and swap the FCU with my spare re-soldered one for further investigation.
For now, there is no side effects apart from loosing battery juice for the starter on cranking. No over cooling observed and the rad fan started at the proper temperature of about 84degC.
  • Idle rpm hunching occasionally, especially when high electrical current was used (activating both R&L power windows at the same time) or when the engine load was suddenly changed (A/C compressor on and off).
Will investigate further while carrying out the compression check.
  • Rattling noise from the cover trim just above the driver's knee and also from the ceiling trim from time to time.
  • Very stiff brake pedal feeling but not stopping efficiently especially the initial bite considering the usage of Dixcel brake pads. Overhauling the system this time so will see how it changes.
  • The owner is already aware of this as it was pointed at the MOT but all four tyres are almost at the wear limit.
  • It was about 23degC so set the tyre pressure at 40/33psi OEM setting as the temperature may drop further next week.
  • PO at about 4.9x100kPa at 3,000rpm, VB at about 15.0V on cruising, TW sits on top of the lower edge of the broad horizontal marker but OBD2 data shows very consistent temperature at around 83 – 85degC. TW gauge seems to move quicker than other NSX from cold stauts but the rad fan only starts operating after running the engine for about 15min so exactly the same compared to other NSX and quite normal for this time of the year.
In cold winter, it's more like 20 - 30min before the rad fan starts operating.
