Default been playing again... more subtle unapproved interior mods to my NSX!

You may have seen a call for a glovebox undertray thing on the socials (getting down wiv da kids!) and Lo, a package arrived from Kaz (thankyou Kaz) with a damaged one he had sitting on a shelf…. Turns out it was in better condition than mine, so I set too on my one, the other as the emergency spare should it all go pear shaped….

So first step was to remove the faux leather trim and cut a hole…

Ok, this will give the game away, but I bought this 11 months ago, and have only just got around to experimenting…

    So it will sit here…..

    And do this…

Concept proven, it was then a case of making it a bit more integrated, so a bit of foam was chopped off an inspection /rolling-around-on-the-garage-floor mat to sink it in a bit…

    Stick on….

Obviously this bit needed finishing off….
IMG_20240622_163706 by JON SUTH, on Flickr

    So a quick 3D print design…
IMG_20240622_164037 by JON SUTH, on Flickr

    And print….
IMG_20240622_183222 by JON SUTH, on Flickr

I had the edge finisher I needed, and after a bit of fine tuning it was stuck on….

All good…. I did tweak the ‘drawer’ so that the cup holder could slide out an extra half inch…. Makes all the difference… apparently!!!!

the 'not-very-integrated' cup holder on the floor can now come out, never was completely happy with it...

and the glove box still opens fine... it didn't, so a quick destaple and trim of a little excess foam on the undertray (literally 3mm thick) and all was well

also the carpet is fine, it just doesn't like being photographed!!! Yes, the floor mat has dirt on it, but quite why the other bits look brown i have no idea!!!

Nice one, when are you going into production? And what is the little toggle switch on the bottom for ? (diagnostic link by any chance?)

I really do love reading these little quirks of yours, having a not-so-original NSX myself.

not sure I need that one though.

The switch is indeed for the diagnostics, it's double pole, so one side shorts the blue connector to save me scrabbling around in the footwell, and the other side activates the abs diagnostics after I did the abs upgrade

What a fab idea, as always, did you paint the bracket on final install, hard to tell from the last photos ….
