BRANDNEW AP BIG BRAKE FRONT KIT
AP RACING technologie with the newest rotor design.
Price 1.390,- EURO + shipping cost (29,- Euro to European countries)
Kit includes: 2*330 mm slitted AP-Rotors, 2*high grade aluminium Mounting Bell, 2*high grade steel adapter for the caliper, 2*modified OEM brackets and all necessary screws.
Ferodo 2500 racing brake pads +132,- Euro
(Brake pads are optional because the OEM pads can still further used)
The kit can be installed in 2-3 hours. The OEM brake lines must not changed and must not be opened.
Some technical and background info:
The worst thing by the NSX is the poor brake. Under fast driving conditions the OEM Brake goes wrong after a short time.
The big problem with the NSX Brake is the rotor quality (It seems Honda takes the rotors from the Civic shelf) and the brake temperatur. The OEM caliper works efficient and my experience with other sports car shows me that two piston caliper can do fantastic brake performance. Still the NSX-R using 2 piston caliper system and works fantastic with this.

Comparing the OEM-Caliper with 4 or 6 Piston aluminium aftermarket caliper the disadvantage is the weight and in some case the different in pads size.
But in my opinion more brake power at the front like 6 piston calipers produce, makes not really sense because the grip of the small front tires (215/40 ZR17), the light front car weight and the old ABS-System aren`t able to handle this.
Under the view of a price/performance solution the using of the OEM-Caliper makes the most reasonable sense.
As many knows the bigger brake from the newer model +97 already brought advantage by the brake temperature and brake performance (they goes from 282 mm to 298 mm diameter), but the newer NSX loss the advantage with the higher car weight.
To make the Honda way to the end, the maximum rotor size for a 17 inch wheel is 330 mm.
Maybe not every 17 inch front aftermarket wheel will fix the kit so I take the measure. Inner Radius next to the taking centre for the bolt should be minimum 19,4 cm (inner diameter 38,8 cm).
Brake safety is important thing so I give order to very reputant company to develop a brake to my idea. I´ve used now the brake kit in my own car for round 12.000 KM without any problem and tested a few different brake pads for best performance. My recommendation is the Ferodo 2500 racing pad. Mintex M1177 or other high metallic, organic based blend of ferrous metals pads shouldn`t be used with this kit.
The big diameter of the rotors bring already positive effect to the brake temperatur. Each 330 mm AP Rotors are around 0,8 Kg lighter as the OEM 282 mm rotors and are run direction bounded. They are new designed to suck the cool air more efficient in the centre and blow the hot air quick away.
Because the lever strength is changed with a bigger rotor diameter the caliper can works more efficient with the same brake pressure.
For the reason that the diameter goes bigger with the larger rotors the OEM Size pads must be a little bit modified. It is a easy job and can be done with a file in a few minutes. The measure self can be take from the rotors when you lay the pads on the outer diameter of the rotors. You`ve only to file a few millimeters by the max heigh pad covering. Max. heigh for the modified pad covering is around 46,5 mm. Important is that the pads didn`t hang off about the rotors becaus this have a number of negative brake influence. If you order pads with the kit, they will be already modified.
